Beware what you wish for. The first spy picture below suggests that it needs lots of cooling. And going for the gloss black option to de-chrome will set you back the cost of a CCBs set.

Did the suspension really change? I thought it was the same.
Anyway, I haven't driven the M2C but I don't really want to. Sound is very important to me and that's where the OG shines. I also prefer the look of the OG. |

I know the topic of the N55 sound being superior is a dead horse that's been pulverized endlessly (I've lurked for years), but I've recently gotten my dream car and want to chime in anyway.
Prior to getting my OG M2 at a terrific deal, I never lusted after the M2c the same way as I did for the OG. After hearing both of them in person, I knew I would only go for the N55 when the right one became available. After only ever having owned Hondas and VWs previously, the sound is intoxicating and puts a smile on my face every single drive. It didn't matter to me what other areas the M2c improved on, just like how I would choose the 981 Cayman over the 718 purely because of sound. |

We have an OG M2 and an F80 ZCP, and I don’t agree with the reviewer comments about power delivery or how it feels between the two engines at all. The S55 feels much faster than the N550T0. This isn’t a criticism of the N55 because it’s a great engine, but it doesn’t feel faster.
But the N55 has always felt pretty “tame” in comparison to the S55 in my opinion. The M3, while certainly more refined, is a much angrier car than the M2. I attribute that perspective primarily to the engine, because the F80 is a little too big for my tastes, and the shorter wheelbase on the M2 is definitely more playful. Conversations about the sound aside, it’s clearly the more potent engine. That’s why the replacement for the F80, if it comes from BMW, will be the M2C for me. The OG definitely sounds great too - there’s no doubt about that, and is such an important aspect for the enjoyment of a sports car. Can’t go wrong with either one.

I have not experienced turbo lag just foot lag.

I thinknthis illustrates the reasom why ppl say that too much power is not always the best thing for cars with shorter wheel base, in order to put down that high power to the wheels, it has to be delivered in more controlled fashion which has its benefits and downsides |

I really miss the N55. I don't and or can't drive at crazy speeds in Chicago. It is much more stop and go and the N55 is superior there.

This is the same company that used the same exact mirrors, switches, seats from that M4 to save a buck; they're a parts bin junkie. No way they went back to the drawing board for new suspension and choose not to plaster it on every marketing pamphlet. However, everyone that has an M2C claims it "feels" better and since I haven't drove one, I have to take their word for it. |

I always thought this was the case. If I'm not mistaken, the power curve is higher at just about every point above...1.5/2k RPMs? Contemplating getting an S55 powered vehicle since I'm no longer living in a crowded city. Can let the legs stretch. |

Good article. He sums up what I would love to take from the M2C: the brakes, suspension, and M buttons. Other than that I agree that the N55 is just fun and the look is aggressive without being too in your face. Plus, as somebody who bought a new 18' last August at the very end of their production run, the $10k in savings was also a nice feature...
It's almost never mentioned, but I also think the 437M are far better looking wheels than the 788M. If I had an M2C, the FIRST thing I would do is try to trade them away or upgrade to 763M's.

The S55 in the M2C does feel more sluggish before 3K. After 3K all hell breaks loose and can rev to 7600 before limiter cuts in.
I am starting to full throttle my newish M2C and the S55 does not disappoint! An M motor indeed! |

The M2c is improved and better. What this editor wants is an old school raw M mode. The programmed drive by wire with the turbo charger makes it feel normally aspirated and easier to drive is not working for him. Give him the GT350r.

A pity we can't have a mix of both M2 versions: the S55 but with the sound of the N55; the seats, big brakes, carbon strut, improved steering, and M-mirrors of the M2C but with the front grill, wheels and discrete muffler of the OG M2. And, unlike both M2s, a decent suspension usable even on bumpy roads. I tried a M2C recently, I found it great, improved in many aspects, but I immediately recognized the too stiff and jumpy stock suspension of my OG, even if I admit that the car felt more composed and reassuring in fast curves (thanks to the strut bar?).
