Broken MPE
Until now I was not very impressed with the MPE on my M2. Great sound, but only outside the car... and drone... and rattles when cold start.

Today the rattles became worse... much worse... all the time.
BMW assistance came over aaaaaaaaand... a valve is broken
10.000km and it's broken!!!

Ok, still under warranty... nevertheless I'm pissed. What if this happens a second time outside warranty? what was I thinking! €5500 down the drain

My advise: stick to stock!!! It's more than fine!

Ok relax man, an exhaust valve breaking is actually a somewhat common thing when changing exhausts. Just be glad you don't have to spend a penny

I am surprised that yours rattles. The 2018s were to have a newer design that took care of the problem. Was your MPE port installed? Any way, BMW should fix the rattle if an authorized dealer or port installed.

Maybe it was broken from the start,

Europe, so install by dealer...

In US several MPEs have been replaced by BMW for rattles. Check with your dealer.

Do you mean BMW 'Roadside Assistance'? I never heard of 'BMW Assistance'. Is it a fee-paid extra service?

Actually, it's BMW Road Assist... free for five years (when bought new)

Just tack weld the clamp to the pipe and you will get rid of the rattle, I had the previous MPE design and had to tighten the clamp screws about 3 times because it gets loose and rattles all time not just at cold start but after tack welding it I dont have the problem, not even in cold start.

My MPE was purchased in January. I had the M2 in today for the second time since we purchased it and they couldn't resolve it. They received approval from BMW Canada to replace it. A new one is on order and coming from Germany in 2-3 weeks. I've yet to read a post that a new replacement has resolved the rattle and vibration. I'd be very interested to hear if anyone has had a replacement that has resolved the situation.

There are far too many different thoughts on clamps, welding, pipes, etc on how to fix it. Sounds like this new MPE coming from Germany will have no different an outcome.

I will definitely report back on the new replacement.
