Bilstein B16 PSS 10

I’m seriously considering a set but would like to hear from people that have them. Search resulted in minimal posts, so hence this post. How are they on the track and for daily driving? What’s the spring diameter as I’d be using camber plates and most want to know the spring diameter. I’m also finding that most places that stock them stateside seem to be backordered. Any idea on when they might be available? Thanks in advance...

I run them on my M2 and love them. Have previous experience with kw V3’s on my previous bmw and quilty is on par, good entry level coilovers.

Being able to adjust compression/rebound with the wheels still on as they are adjusted on the same adjustment knob like online r&t is brilliant.

I have mine set to 4/10 all round and that suits my bumpy rough roads well. If I was to be critical they can be a little bouncy at low speeds but I put that down to the progressive springs. I may look into some linear swift springs in the future.

Not yet. I know of someone else with these coilovers on his M2 and he tracks his 5/6 times a year. He is very happy with them on track.

I run the PSS10 system on street and track – about 10-15 days per year. My overall setup also includes camber plates and track dedicated wheels/tires. Here’s my previous post on this:

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...3#post22445053

The only thing I have to compare the PSS10 setup to is my car in stock form. In stock form, the car handled great, very neutral through the corners. With the Bilstein’s, the car is more planted with less role. It’s also lowered about an inch, front to back. I run them at 10 clicks front and 8 clicks rear (to help with traction out of the corners).

On the street I leave them at the softest setting. The Bilstein’s are really well made, are mono-tube and have not resulted in any increases in noise. With the Bilstein’s the car is more controlled, especially over wavy pavement.

Thanks for the feedback. Regarding the camber plates, what did you order regarding the spring size (eg 60 mm, 65, 2 1/2, etc) when ordering them. Also where did you source them? Seems every dealer stateside has them on backordered.

The issue is that the PSS10 uses a factory type spring as opposed to the traditional cylindrical coil over springs, as such many of the camber plates available are not designed to work with stock style springs. In recent conversations with Turnermotorsport to add camber plates to my 135i with the PSS10 suspension was to go with Vorshlag camber plates, they seem to be the only ones with an offering for the PSS10 type setup. Hope this helps.

I got them last year directly through Bilstein US. I think I was a special case. I'm running Ground Control camber plates and am now at 3.4 neg degrees in front.

Below are my PSS10 details.

I ran them on my e46 wagon. The ride and handling were quite good compared to the stock sport suspension but the fronts failed prematurely (about 4 years / 30k miles)

I have read excellent review on the Bilstein Club Sport on the M2 by an ex professional racing car driver Keiichi Tsuchiya after he drove one over uneven asphalt during a Touge race. It is more than 2x the price of the PSS10 but may be instead of getting a Carbon hood or boot lid, spend the money on the better suspension instead.

German tuner Lightweight uses it on their BMW M2 CSR that broke the record in 2017 of being the fastest BMW on Sachsenring. Evolve Automotive also uses it on their version of the M2 GTS...

You’re talking the club sports correct? Carbon hood/boot aren’t on my radar, good quality coilovers are, but at a price point. As this is my daily driver, which will also see multiple days at the ‘ring, Hockenheim, Spa, etc, handling is important, but daily ride is too. My other option which I’m seriously leaning towards now is the TC Kline double adjustable Koni set up. Thanks for your input...appreciated.

There's a good POV piece on Bilstein PSS10 and clubsport kits on the E92 M3 forum. Go read it for additional insights.

They may lack some of the marketing panache that many of their competitors focus on but In my experience they are built like a tank and still offer fantastic dampening. There's a reason Porsche uses them as an oem supplier and many race teams use them.

Not sure how accurate it is. It looks like Tirerack may have one at one of their distribution centers. They are selling it for $1890
