Carbon fiber interior trim is listed on M3/M4 order guide under standard features.

Carbon fiber-reinforced-plastic roof is listed as a standard feature on the Build Your Own M4 Coupe website.

We are talking about the actual order guide. Not website build your own. The M3/M4 order guide pdf is on the F80 forum.

An American manufacturer has an immediate upper hand in terms of cost. BMW does the same thing in Europe, as well as plenty of European brands that don't sell in the US market at all. There are diesel variants of just about every BMW, sometimes two diesel engines. Here we get like five diesel models.
Let's be honest. The M2 is getting the N55 because it's cheaper. BMW have plenty of reasons to stick to the N55.

Cost. The S55 is more complicated and more expensive, and this car is intended to be "affordable".

Lineup placement (protecting the status of more expensive offerings).

It sucks that the car isn't getting an S-engine, but such is the price of getting an "entry point" M-car. It's a catch 22. If the 1M had been a failure, we wouldn't get this car at all. Because the 1M was a success, we get this car, but with an N55 engine.

Agreed, so if you have a "flexible" manufacturing process, it won't matter how many people bought it. Btw, you'd be surprised how many more would get it. Sooner or later, customization will materialize as "on demand builds" become cheaper due to efficient manufacturing, 3D printing, etc.

It's pretty clear you don't understand the technicalities of automotive manufacturing and certification

Remember the 1M: it got the silver version of the black E92 M3 GTS wheel (359 M Y-spoke Competition wheel). Same wheel but different finish. And 1M test mules were already sporting the final version during late test sessions.

It's all over the forum, including this thread. It will be produced at the Leipzig plant. Leipzig is not set up for Individual. Plus, they are producing other cars there as well. That is partially why it will have 4 colors available. Other people break it down more.

There is no need for a link because the M2 will be produced at the Leipzig plant with the current 2 series models, and it is not capable of painting cars with Individual paint colors.

They're actually gloss black and polished with a tinted clear coat. Not quite silver

Not sure what you mean Artemis. You got the Competition Pack wheels from the E9x M3:

It's only the GTS that got a different shade, but it's not like the 1M got its own unique finish.

As for the M2 black wheels, here's what it should look like (which is very different than the mules):

Yes things are moving on now an the first information is released.
Mine is officiallymordered since monday Jul 27th. Don't care if it will be the first, but should be among those.
Here are some of the one I ordered : 1H92 M2 Coupé ( that's the official name of he car)
B39 Mineralgrau (one of the 4 colours )
LCNL Leather Dakota Schwarz with blue stiching
2MK M DKG Drivelogic
420 Black teinted rear windows
459 Power seats incl. Memory function (Standard)
494 Heated front seats (standard)
5AC High Beam Assist
524 Adaptive Headlights
609 Navigation System Pro ( Standard)
674 Harman-Kardon sound system
7UU Warranty Extension to 5 years

Production week will be Feb 8th 2016
Delivery week will be March 3rd 2016

The car has been officially ordered through my dealer in Belgium and it is officially in the system, thus confirmed😜

I got the information that there will not be many of this M2. Probably more than the former 1M, but couldn't get a confirmation for this. I was informed that the car will be produced over a longer period as the 1M has been, but it will be much more difficult to get one. Don't ask me why😫

Official presentation will be made during the IAA in Frankfurt
More details will follow as I receive them.💪

Wait, so have you actually seen the option list? If you were really one of the first to be able to put it in the system, I would have thought you would have been able to take delivery before March since the original SOP was in Nov. That would more or less confirm the delay.

That's correct, W///. After all, the 1M was a parts bin car (though, it got some nice bits, instead of thrown some leftovers at it).

Let's see what finish the M2 wheels will get. Personally not feeling the bi-color wheel combo (silver/black).

BMW: make those M2 wheels plain gunmetal, like Porsche offers stock for the Cayman GT4 and GT3 RS.

No comfirmation whether the sports seats will be identical to the M3/M4
Price not yet revealed
