I started the Kool-Aid reference on here, because Scott26 said that he was sipping on tea (using the Kermit sipping on tea pic). So I was referencing the infamous poisoned Kool Aid...in a sense that we are constantly looking for it to drink or that is what he is giving out, while he is sipping on tea. Any little bit of info that he gives out is "Kool Aid", while he just sits back and sips on tea, watching us clamour for more and debate on little aspects of the car. One piece of info can go for 2-3 pages.

YMB has a strange appeal. LBB doesn't strike me as a color that is uniquely BMW or special. Pretty sure the Mazda CX-5 can be bought in a similar color.

Yes , although That can be said for a lot of colors including Valencia orange.

Doesn't take away from the fact that people want something special as the launch color. And even with VO, you're not going to find many that option another car with that color, leaving it a unique option. There are plenty of blue cars and plenty that look similar to LBB. YMB is pretty unique as far as blues go and still looks good on the M3.

I think you underestimate the amount of VO colored vehicles out there... try looking around a little more..

At any rate.. my point is .. that VO was supposed to be a special launch color... like you " expect".. but by the time it got to market there were also Honda Elements, Honda Fits, chevy cruzes, Hyundai Velosters, Kia Souls, Kia Sportage, and Dodge Challengers in the same color.

Apparently BMW AG must have realized it was no longer that unique as the color was then applied to about 5 BMW models. the same color is on the 135, X1 , MINI cooper etc..

Even as it is... Neither VO nor LBB is going to be unique to a model.

What's there to underestimate? Reality is that my eyes see very few orange cars on the road. Just because the 228i has a VO option doesn't mean everyone is jumping to buy one. It is still unique to see even among the enthusiast crowd of the 2 series buyers.

Sounds like you have some pretty special eyes..

you don't see orange cars driving on the road... and this blue looks average. OK!

Maybe where you're from there's a lot of support for the Longhorns or something, but outside of Texas and Holland, orange is not a common car color (I actually never saw an orange colored car while in Amsterdam).

And yes, I think LBB is a pretty crappy color. These two guys are long beach blue and even they can't stand it -->

No, I don't like YMB, either. Probably , as you mention, because of the baby blue component. Le Mans Blue is where I went in blues - and that was a compromise. Although, I did get a lot of compliments on that color - which I found surprising given it's less than vivacious character. When the choice is solely my own , red is the color I would choose and is, currently, on my car.

To funny because somehow it seams like we are being slowly poisoned. I still cannot get over the high priced semi-quasi M Car moving up the number ladder just like the M3 became the M4 Coupe, adds value, but this car will not have an S Motor... But boy it will command a price as if it did.

From Pyrat rum to the Blue Curaçao liquor ending up in a tropical Blue Lagoon cocktail: the least we can say is that the M Division seems to like Caribbean drinks.

Not saying that the M2 won't look okay in cocktail blue (LBB), but this car deserves red.

I've seen Long Beach Blue on a X6 M. It look a bit like it was liquid so IMO it works well on bigger cars with bigger surfaces of metal and makes them look more vivid. I'm not sure if it will suit M2 that well, I'm afraid the car is simply too small to get that effect.
