^^^I wonder if a non "double-bubble (say that quickly 10 times ) would be cheaper to produce? If they did the CF in a configuration that mirrored the sun-roof delete metal option, then maybe that's a way to use some CF while keeping it on the lower rent side of the scale?

Just an idea...

If the car is wrapped in black vinyl (whcih it looks to be by the scratched areas exposing the Long Beach Blue), how can we be sure BMW hasn't run a carbon fiber roof on the mules this entire time? Won't take much to wrap it up, right?
Because all the new CF roofs have had the double bubble style:

And we've also seen an Alpine White mule in California with a regular sunroof delete. I could be wrong of course, but this does not look like a wrap to me:

This late in the game, if we have seen CF roof by now, then we won't for the M2. They're trying to camo LBB here.
Mirrors are not present. CF Roof is always still a possibility.

Lets be optimistic.

Playing devil's advocate here (mostly because I'd love to see the carbon fiber roof). Agreed that all new M cars with CF roofs available have double bubble (better than zagato if you ask me) but if you're going for cost effectiveness, a flat roof has to be cheaper to produce than the double bubble.

You still get the weight distribution gains just like in the e92 M3 and e46 M3 CSL flat roofs on the cheap with the added benefit of infusing the M2 with more of the current M coupe lineup identity (albeit not double bubble but better than no carbon fiber roof at all).

Plus its much easier to conceal for an added bonus of a great surprise at the reveal!

It is possible... The M3 didn't use the CF roof during all of testing either. The image below is of a car pretty late into the testing phase.

I could see BMW going with a flat CF roof on the M2 because of the 2-series higher roofline profile.

Relax your mind by watching a BMW CF roof production video (E92 M3) (no double bubble design yet).

I'll bet you it's because you are looking at Alpine White on the M2 vs. Mineral White on the M4.

Nothing wrong with optimistic, no doubt. I'd rather aim low and be wrong haha.

Huh? References to drinking the Kool Aid are most commonly related to the 1978 Jonestown mass murder-suicide by way of poisoned Kool Aid. The phrase is meant to imply that one believes whole heartedly in the topic at hand.
