True. I just don't have much of a patience

I could be completely eating my words after a test drive.

Do we know when the M2 will be unveiled in Geneva? Given the lack of spy photos as of late, perhaps BMW is done with testing and will have a prototype at Geneva.

I've really seriously started toying with the idea of keeping the E36 M3 and skipping the M2. Here's how I'm looking at it:
- The M2 is not going to be lighter than the E36
- The M2 won't have the same mechanical steering feel as the E36. Keep in mind I've got a ZHP rack in mine and the results are perfect
- The M2 won't be as reliable (short term and long term) as an E36. That shouldn't even be a question here.
- If I get bored of the power level, not only do I have an E92 to play with, but the E36 can quite easily be upgraded (don't have to worry about locked ECU's, ect ect...)

So right now, plan B would be to keep both M3's, and replace my ageing 4Runner with an F31 instead. These look fabulous:
I'm not doing anything until the M2 comes out of course, but I'm going to be strict about how good the car is before I decide to get one. Come on BMW, hurry up!!
I prommmmise you, as soon as the concept is revealed, you're going to be like a kid stuck in a candy shop... and the M2 will be that extra sized lollipop

We have no idea. But we're certainly hoping that BMW pulls a hell of a surprise.

Getting a bit impatient here. If all goes well I might just hop into an M3.

Possibly, but it wouldn't be a prototype, would be the concept reveal for the next stage. Stage after that is the actual full production model.

As you probably know the concepts tend to look like the full production care plus maybe 1inch bigger wheels, totally blacked out windows and full M Performance goodies.

Not sure I'd personally get a 435i when you already have a sweet M135i. We're jealous on this side of the pond that we can't get that car

Yeah but Ive had it 2 years and the new car itch is here big time... Problem is my toy car is a strict 2 seater so the main car has to be semi practical, and most likely accommodate kids in the coming year. This worries me most of all with the M2...

Too bad that it seems there won't be a grand coupe for the M2 - that would be a sweet machine and would solve a lot of indecision for folks like yourself. Plus I think it would just look incredible...

Seriously. An M2 GC would be THE car to get.

I don't really "get" the appeal of an m2 gran coupe personally.. It's still not going to be big or comfortable enough to be ideal for 4 adults or even 2 adults with rear facing baby seats..

An M4 Gran coupe would be much more appealing than M2 GC.

It boils down to the size. I personally find the 3 and 4 too big but I do like the convenience of having 4 doors. So a GC has the coupe line, yet has 4 doors, and the perfect size.

I'd actually pick an M2 GC as well. I love coupes, but I already have 2.

Better yet, they should make a 1M 5 door hatchback or an M3 touring. I would have been sold on that idea a long long time ago.

I sold a 06' E60 M5 to get better gas mileage (i prefer two digits to the occasional single digit), less weight, and a smaller payment. I did not want an M3 in 2009 because the mileage was not that different than the M5 and gas was not cheap. There was no 1M yet, so I ordered a Le Mans Blue 135i M-Sport. It is quick and FUN! The N54 with the original software would not pull strong to the red line, but a Power Kit solved that quickly. The lack of a sophisticated rear suspension is probably my biggest complaint. I had a '95 Avus Blue M3 and am really looking forward to the M2. A 500 HP beast was not as fun as the 320 HP 135i for me; weight is huge!

Agreed - I think we mentioned this before in a different thread - we are all seriously approaching madness at this point - and it seems like the M2 won't be @ Geneva, right?

Going to be some seriously cool other stuff, maybe BMW didn't think they could get a big of a reception because of that.

It really would - that car would still be small enough to not approach "too big" but would retain a TON of real world practicality. They're nuts to not do it...

Since the F22 is give or take, roughly the same size as an E46, think of E46 M3 personality that can also be practical at times. That would be the M2 GC.

I have no wife, no kids, no dogs, no need to drag shit around, and I would buy one.

E36 M3/4/5 is the perfect size for four normal size adults.

M2GC would be epic.

So I assume the Geneva dream is now dead...? Or is this premature?

Will there be a more telling reveal later in March to back up the "Shhhhhhhh" comment?
