To the displeasure of my wife, I am slowly turning my 2018 M2 into a track car. As I prepare for a rollbar install by removing most of the rear interior, I thought I would share the weight of the various interior parts/sections.

Door sill, that's commitment!
What seats are you thinking? Removing curtain and rear airbags too?

Good info there, thankyou to the OP.
Surprised by console weight, this explains why they went with the CF version in the CS. Those figures are making it difficult to justify keeping the rear seat. Ive been trying to avoid it but it might be time to consider fitting an M4 GTS oem style delete kit.🤔

Nice!
This is massively useful. I'd suggest throwing this in a Google sheet so we can see updated versions as you progress. |

Door sills are 1lb for both (I made a mistake) and I only measured it because it was off. :-) It's possible that I'll put them back on because there is no reason not to at this point.
I went with OMP seats: ARS-R and WRC-R. I wanted to do one with high thighs and one with low thighs because if the high were to high to get in and out easily, I'd swap for the low thighs. I am still waiting for my Planted seat bracket. The OMP steel side mounts are heavy (haven't weighted them yet)! I have a spare set of aluminum Corbeau side mounts that I might use if I can get the right angle out of the holes. I'll make a Google sheet in a day or two and share it. |

M2guru did you by chance weigh the car with everything in before starting cutting weight? Getting ready to start this process too but haven’t put it on the scales yet.

Added Planted seat brackets, Corbeau Aluminum seat bracket and OMP Steel seat bracket. I don't have a weight of the car unfortunately. Also, no weight of the rollbar. I'll ask the installer to estimate the weight. I am going the custom route and will be having it welded in. |

Thanks for tracking this!
Looks like the rear seat backs, bottom, side cushions and trunk floor liner are good for 70 lbs. And these are easy to remove as part of "track prep" or at the track. Even though most are off the rear axle. Wonder how it changes the behavior of the car on stock suspension? With coilovers, I suppose you can artificially counter with ride height, alignment and damping adjustments to an extent. Has anyone tracked the car with the rear seats completely out on stock suspension and care to share? |

I found a little company in germany for a very clean rear seat delete.
Read somewhere that it's all made on order and family operated.... https://sternperformance.de/en/186-bmw-2-series-f87 |

Thanks landapanda! It sounds like removing the rear seats may not be as bad for handling as I am thinking. I'll give it a whirl at the next event.
M2guru, looking forward to your feeeback as well. |
