Drifting?

The point is that generally if the car is balanced enough to drift easily, then it is definitely balanced enough to haul around a track very fast. My lap times improved dramatically when my skidpad skills got to the point I could manage a drift comfortably in my car. It allows you to take advantage of the last couple percentage points of performance (even going over the limit on occasion) in the pursuit of speed since you are confident in your ability to recover from catastrophe.

This is why a good driver in a slower car will be able to drive circles around lesser drivers on many technical road courses (within reason).

This sense of balance, combined with good snow tires, also helps you humiliate SUV drivers in the winter time... 8^D

sth519 Yes, you are right. The stream was very bad but the scene belongs to that "stream".

You mean the number of units for Germany? 400-500; and that you cannot order it with a discount?

1. Thanks for finally answering my question
2. Whom you are referring to when you say: "we" also have some serious news...?!
3. It is a little bit "kindergarten" when you make an announcement about "some serious news" and then do not post this info you have...
4. Why are you not answering to PMs?

That had to be said now.

A per the saying: "By saying that you have a secret, you already half disclosed it".

Nobody is looking for me to teach. I am fortunate to put the pedal all the way down and keep the car going in a straight line. Thank you for the info.

I said I will not post it at "this" german forum because you get "flamed" when you post news there. That was the case in the past there. So its not like "Kindergarten", its "consistent".
I have no interest to make myself "important" or "special". I would like to have a M2 community where you can discuss stuff on a friendly basis. If that is not possible, I do not have the interest to share anything to these people. Thats the reason for my behavior.

Some examples:

- Unveiled the design of the M2 in mid 2016 (together with Artemis and Adem at his board): Getting flamed
- Got the equipment list of the M2 in mid 2016: Getting flamed
- spoke about the unveil date 14/15 october in august: Getting flamed
- talked about the discount situation in germany: Getting flamed

... so I have no intense interest to post there anything. I say that because I know that sth519 is a member of this german forum but he isn't one of the flaming guys over there ...

"We" (to answer your question: The guys that make M2 research since ~ 2 years) expect price adjustments for the BMW M2 (getting more expensive) in 2016. I do not know if that also will be the case for the US market.

So it might not be the best idea to wait for a higher discount (some people say they are going to wait because they want a higher discount) in the future when the basic price is higher.

Sorry, but just to clarify. Do you mean a price increase in 2017? You can't buy an M2 until 2016 so if someone is waiting for a discount after the release of the car, that would be 2017 and after. Or are you suggesting the price will be higher than expected on launch in 2016?

The order process in germany started at 15. october 2015. Since that date you can get a discount or not on your order. I do not want to talk about the M2 discount topic, its too massive here in germany.

To make it short:

5 % discout on a car is better than 10 % discount on a car that is 10 % more expensive. That was the statement, without spoken about numbers. There will be significant price adjustments. I can't tell you when this adjustments will be made.

On german BMW M2 contracts BMW has the possibility to increase the price up to 5 % from order to delivery. Is it more than 5 % than you have the chance to step back from your contract.

I do not doubt what you are saying but admit being flabbergasted about BMW's behaviour in case this turns out being the case. Some hints I received from my salesman were already heading in that direction.

Having ordered the car at a base price that is already higher than its competitors (when taking into account missing AWD, optional DCT etc) and having received a moderate discount, this means I might be facing a substantial increase during the wait for delivery. This would make me feel properly hornswoggled by a well coordinated scam.

By an artificial shortage of availabilty they entice people to file an order without even having seen the car or having been able to read press reviews. They perhaps fill their order books for multiple years and subsequently do an extra cash up from the people in the waiting queue.

I guess I will step back from the agreement in that case and go for something else, including future purchases when it comes to replacement of my X5.
