I mean lets be honest, if the winter this year is like the last few winters around here, might not even need snow tires.

But yeah just get the winter tire package from BMW (or put a WTB in the forums), its the M641 wheels and now comes with the ALpin tires. Works nicely for winter. The M2 is mostly aluminum and well sealed so rust is not really a worry it seems but I would still wash the under carriage as much as I can

Hey. Have set of apex 19x9 sm10 with continental winters 235/35/19 used for two seasons. Great winter traction as real snow tires, not the performance “winter tires”. They’re in good shape, no rash with a few nicks from gravel and sand from winter driving. Good tread left. Unfortunately I’ve moved to Cali but can ship at you cost.

Even mild winters will require a tire change as the stock tires will turn hard as a rock in cold temps and create safety issues, as well as shorten their life span.

Definitely get real winter tires - they aren't just for snow, your stock tires just don't work below 40. Nokian Hakkepeliitas are the best, but may not have exact sizes - I run studded ones on my winter car and they are phenomenal (studs retract on dry pavement for a typical winter tire traction; but on black ice you will be the only person not kissing the guardrail). If you are getting a dedicated winter wheel set, go narrower.

And driving in winter will definitely add corrosion damage on your car (all the fasteners, brake hardware, etc). If you have another option that keeps the M inside for the salt season it would be worth doing that.

Anyone try the wider OEM M3 641M Wheels - with the wider stance / tires? Assuming rub but curious

Thanks again

Thanks - I have run the Hakkepeliitas and they were great. I am a Michelin summer tire guy but in winter the Alpins are just ok in snow but they are quiet and sticky on dry and rain.

Shipping across country would probably crush the deal and I generally like to see & touch. That said if you have any pics on the car I would love to see them. Looking for ideas of what fits & looks right.
Thanks for reply… don’t blame you for heading West to Cali

Yeah shipping would kill deal absolutely. I’ll prob sell them as winters really not that useful here… and want a set of track wheels

I love the 10 spoke wheels look. They’re not hella flush but good for not throwing up gravel and debris over side of car. My buddy loved the wheels so much he bought a set for his new 996 turbo.

I was not suggesting leaving summer tires on, why I immediately said get the winter tire package for the m2. It just has been really mild in this area of the north east. This could change at any time though and never ok driving winters with summers but for the last couple of winters a all seasons would have been totally fine

Best thing to do IMHO is buy a set of 437ms that someone is selling off a M3/M4/OG M2, and mount winter tires.

I did exactly that, 437ms off an OG M2, then mounted Alpin PA4S. Cost me a little under 3 grand. Cheaper than the BMW Winter Wheel/Tire packages and better looking.

That's exactly what I did. Kept an eye on the M2 classifieds but also checked the M3/M4 classifieds and found an M3 owner selling his set of 641M wheels/tires for $1300 (including TPM sensors). Even though the wheels are staggered 9" rear and 8.5" front, they came with 255/35-19 Continental Winter tires mounted. No rubbing on mine.

I'm also in CT and if I had my preference, I would have gotten 235 width tires because they should be better in snow. But honestly, I avoid snow driving if possible with this car and basically just got the extra set of wheels and tires for the cold weather. Totally happy with them.

they also were made in silver which is what I got, the silver package was the m3/4 and not sure it can be bought new . Beware that since M3/4 has 18s the wheel weights might be in the way to clear the BBK (a rebalance will fix this easily)

I have BSM car and I hate black on black stuff so had to get the silver wheels. They are nice wheels and look great, they give a nice view of the BBK and are easy as pie to clean which is perfect for a winter wheel.

I did the same thing. I feel like this is the best approach if you are ok with staggered winter setup. I wanted the car to drive as close to summer stock as possible so I run the standard 245/265 with the PA4 and have no issues.

Great info knowing the M3 / M4 OEM winter wheel set doesn’t rub!! TY

Love the silver wheels on black! So those are also the staggered (wider rear wheels) M3/M4 set and you also had no rubbing? What size tires?
Quite certain the 18” set from M3/4 won’t fit.
Thank you - love your ride 🤘

I bought a set of used 437Ms (in good condition I may add), which had winter tires on them good for a year. I later replaced those tires with a set of all-seasons because It never snows enough in DC and when it does I dont take the M2 out.
The reason to buy a wheel you like versus a generic one is that you will love looking at your car even in winter. I think the 437s are cheap now and look amazing on the M2 (like the OG).

thank you!

The 18" will not work as you said. The front and rear wheels are a different size (I belive 8.5in front and 9in rear) but they have the same size tire. I would love to tell you which size it is but I don't know and wheels are in storage but I am pretty sure they are the same tire size as the black ones for the M2, they just have contis instead of michelins.

Got the silver 19’ set (same as MooMooM2), wheels are different (8.5 front, 9 rear), standard tires are indeed same size front and rear: 235/35 19 (they look a bit stretched on the 9’ rims)

Pilot Alpin4, happy with them, they cope well with cold/wet weather (never tried them on snow, I’ve got a dedicated ski-mobile on Nokians for that )

I could fit 18’ (that was the plan, until I found the used 19’ set for a great price) as M2C here comes standard with the smaller "blue" brakes, but you guys in US with BBK have no choice: 19’ or bigger !
