Rats!
Found evidence that I've been providing rent-free housing to some local rodents. In the engine bay, near to the driver. I drive almost daily-surprised they managed to stay there. I don't know what the white fluff is from.

They did $1,500 damage to my M2. I now have rat traps by both front wheels.

They got into mine too, no rear damage but had I not caught it they would have dont some (can see a wire or 2 with tiny marks, they were thinking about it for sure).
Would not trust just throwing some traps around the car, they are not dumb. i have a couple of nice traps in my barn and the longer its setup the less of them I catch, then I move it around and catch a few more, ect. There is also sprays and smelly bags and the infamous sound machines but I would not trust any of them, look at reviews, some will say they work, others say they wont. I can say that my ultrasonic sound thing did not work, like I said, they are not dumb. Only way I have managed to keep them out is one of these yes its expensive and its ugly but going on year 2 and no mice doing damage. I am going to build a garage soon and will put a lift so that I can raise the car but otherwise would probably buy one of these for inside a garage for peace of mind. I do live in the country so mice are out there, no way to get rid of them. Also they like cars that sit, my neighbour is from here, been here all his life (39 years) and never has had any mice in his car that he drives daily, I have been here for 5 years and have had mice on the M2 and my wifes subary has traces that they been in the engine. |

also don't want ya to panic but they may have got inside, thats where I found the next, under the passenger feet. They had of course also removed insulation and made a cozy nest. The problem with mice is that they can extract water from any source so they will start chewing wires to stay hydrated

Cats are worth it for the cuteness alone. Their ‘Pet Cemetary’ meets ‘American Pscyho’ lust for killing is a positive bonus for pest control.

I use the peppermint spray and also drier sheets. On all 3 of my cars. The Miata RF is not garaged and I spray and replace the sheets every 3-4 weeks. Haven't had a single issue and Do get mice in my garage often before the traps get them.
