On the same boat. Currently just keeping an eye out on the ideal spec/price and if it’s right then I’ll make the move.

Price will certainly drop as you wait but also keep in mind that the car will have higher miles, multiple owners, higher chance of accidents and mods as well.

If the right one pops up, I think you should go for it!

There is no recession, not now anyway. Yes, there are economic troubles, but it's not a recession.

I actually believe prices will stay strong and maybe even increase for the M2 Comp when the new version is released. I haven't seen a lot of discussion about this, but the iDrive 8 in new M2 Comp will be a big turnoff for a lot of guys, especially for old-school car enthusiasts who want a true "driver's car."

I played around with the iDrive 8 recently and it's a tech nightmare that is also ugly, IMHO. Looks like someone stuck a long horizontal iPad on the dash with no thought to design or integration.

I had a deposit down and the first allocation at my local dealer for a new M2 Comp. As soon as I found out it had the iDrive 8, I cancelled my order just last week and tracked down one of the last 2021 M2 Comps (June 15, 2021) that has only 350 miles on it.

Just buy it and start enjoying, you could be waiting forever and miss out on a bunch of great memorable drives!
It’s not like it’s a $200k car selling for $250k now, it’s a few thousand extra and your in one now!

I was on the same boat. Waiting and waiting and prices just went up. About 4 months ago I found an OG LCI 6MT LBB and said screw it.
Paid a bunch of money for it. And you know what? Don't care. I own an M2!

I view it as a forever car and if you think you might too, then a few extra thousand today won't make a difference in the long run!

Agreed with others that say having it sooner may be worth it anyways!!

I feel prices might stay or even increase with the new M2. Demand will be insane for that car, and once people realize it's going for over sticker and starting in the mid to high 70's base, they'll go down to the used M2's in the mid 40's.

They are definitely rare/uncommon, but I was driving through a little town in Nevada near Valley of Fire and I saw my twin 2018 Blue M2 in a parking lot. First one I have seen in 6 months and I had to travel from Florida to Nevada.

No doubt prices will fall a little as the model ages but I don't think it will be significant.
I guess in 2016 no one expect there would be a global health crisis that destroy the global supply chain and makes over 2M people die.

hmm the 2022 m3 has a 70k starting msrp. my guess of m2 would be around 60k or slightly less to make M3 more premium.

There really is no recession at the moment. Something like 75% of economists agree. Must be some terrible recession when my Porsche dealer is moving every unit they can get their hands on and hiring continues at a rapid pace.

Computer chip shortage means all car prices are higher (including used) because manufactures are constrained and can only build so many models. If you wait until the end of the year, prices will be better.

so much this.

as soon as i made my son's last college tuition payment in dec '20, i set my mind on buying a used OGM2 LCI. was really hoping to find something low mileage, 1-owner, and under / around $50K -- and that just wasnt happening.

i searched used for about 2 months and just decided, "F it!" found an allocation and ordered new...exact spec that i want.

zero regerts!!!

I was in the same boat was trying to choose between an e92 m3 and f87 m2c. Decided to go with the M2C since my brother has an e92 already and it's fun but the m2c is on a different level. I ordered one and got it 06/2021 so the last month they were made. Mid order they unveiled the G42 and I was about to cancel but once i saw the new 2 it solidified my decision.

This market is very volatile, we will have a crash very soon and are already in a recession but at the same time the supply chain will take years to recover, and inflation will only continue to get worse with all this printing so its hard to say what the market will be like in the next 1-2 years. I will say this, I do not regret paying MSRP for my m2c and this past year has been amazing with it and worth every penny. The next m2 will not have a hand brake, will not have multipiston rear calipers, will not look as timeless and will not rev to 7700rpm like the m2c. Also it will be heavy considering an m240 weighs more than an m340.

now at a crossroads knowing that the G87 is going to be released in a month.. should I wait for prices of OGs and M2Cs to maybe drop in a month with the new release (though I realize cars wont start hitting streets until early next year probably).

currently already pre-approved for an LCI, 25k miles, $46.5k.. though would be buying the car sight unseen and needing to foot another $1.6k in shipping fees. thinking I should probably wait for a better in state example.
