Lightweight Exhaust that's not loud - Any options?

There are only two reasons that I want to swap the exhaust 1) remove weight, and 2) remove the dumpy butt and tidy up the rear. A performance bump is nice, but it seems negligible. I actually don't want a louder exhaust. I lived with loud cars for years, and I'm done with that.

Do I have any options?

Do some digging on the sub forums and you'll get some options.

Here is a start OFFICIAL: M2C Exhaust Options MegaThread https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1585328

On the same boat.... But no one has the definite answer. It's hard to tell from video/sound clips.... Maybe Miltek Sport or Remus Sport??

I really really want to pull the trigger on the AFE exhaust. Not only is it substantially cheaper than the majority of the others, but it also has a single mid (to help with the sound) and the muffler section looks light. It also looks like it would be relatively loud with the flap open, and tame with it closed. I have no idea what weight would be on it, but surely the single mid would be lighter than the dual mid offerings of some of the other exhausts no?

Yeah, I read through the whole thread and didn't get a clear answer. I think I'm leaning towards Remus Sport or the Eisenmann valved.

I have the Akrapovic Evo exhaust, saves a good amount of weight, is quiet in efficient mode and nice and loud in sport/sport+ mode.

I also have the Akropovic exhaust. Plenty of fun noise when you're being all frisky, without any highway drone, and dropping back to efficient mode is perfect for rolling through quiet neighborhoods.

Thanks for the tip. I like the Akrapovic, so that seems like an easy choice other than the price. I just made a deep order of M Performance parts, so exhaust is probably going to be a post-holiday purchase.

My buddy has the Remus sport and it is really quiet. Compared to the original BMW it is maybe 20-30% louder only. It has nice bass.

When you are inside the cabin, you can barely hear anything if you have music going. At least you get rid of the cow's udder and get a bit more sound. Definitely recommended if you want to keep it subtle.

Just replace the back part of the exhaust and take a slip-on.

It will be silent enough.
