18 vs 19 for semi slick grip/traction focus?

dear all,

is there a noticeable difference between 18“ and 19“ for track use?

front 245/40/18 vs 245/35/19 pirelli trofeo r (michelin cup2 also available)
rear 265/40/18 vs 265/35/19 pirelli trofeo r or michelin cup2

18“ tires are cheaper..

lightest and cheapest rims are m513 9x18 / 10x18 oem, apex sm 10 are available in 18/19“.

-are 18“ wheels (tire and rubber) lighter in general? I found no tire weights..
-is the combination of 19“ front (i’ve got bbk 400mm brake discs) and 18“ rear (possible with bbk 380mm? to gain maximum traction and minimal weight/tire pirce feasible?
-are 18“ rims fitting the rear axle when the m2competition bbk - 380mm rear discs - are mounted?

without bbk i would install oem m513 for sure. with bbk i’ve the strange idea trying apex 19“ front and 18“ rear, pro’s and con’s?

If you research, you will find that 18'' don't fit over m2c bbk. Take a look at the clearance on your stock wheels

Is this true for the rear as well? If you re-read the post that is what OP is asking

OP 18 vs. 19 is a choice you already made by selecting the factory BBK. As you know you are forced into 19s at the front. The rear I am not sure but the diameter needs to be close to OEM or the TC and some other assistance things wont be happy.

From pictures I've seen, though the rear disc is the same size, it looks like the caliper is thicker. So I'd say no.

if i find m513 near, i‘ll try if they fit over the rear brake calipers.

pro and cons of 18“ track tires? i may sell my car soon and order another m2c(s)(without bbk) so let me know.

i guess grip&traction should be better with 18, acceleration I don’t know?! i‘ve never tested on this F87 car, only on e92 M3, there 18“ felt more nimble and responsive so performed better IMO!

19s are faster than 18s on track bc you can fit 295/305s in the rear with the right wheel/suspension alignment setup.

If you’re not putting 295/305s in the back, I’d stick with 18s.

18" tires are cheaper.
The wheels weigh less... though I'm not sure the the wheel/tire combo weighs less as a whole.

Agreed.

18” square is the best way to go for bang for the buck. 19” staggered for the fastest times.

I’ve run both. Either is good. Pick your preference.

Uhm I would sell your OEM BBK (saw a full set on Ebay kleinanzeige for 5k) and buy AP racing brakes or similar for 5 - 10k. In the end you will have better brakes and save some cash.

Why don't 295/305s in 18s with the right aspect ratio fit?

I do love my AP’s.

Those widths in 18s would fit fine. There just isn’t many 18” tire options with those widths for the rear, while keeping the rear tire taller than the front.
