Curbed wheel - repair options?

As the title states, I messed up last night. Almost puked when I heard the sound.

Its not horrible, maybe a 2 inch gash but noticeable to me.

Anyone have recs on repair and how much it cost?

I feel your pain. I did the same thing a few months back and the sound made me sick.

I recommend finding a reputable rim repair shop and they will make it look as good as new.

I replied to a post on this recently, and I think the answer will be based on how OCD you are about it being repaired perfectly. The paint, tint, and texture are notoriously very difficult to match and the faces are are diamond cut so a complete refinish is even more difficult. Check out the M3/4 side of the forums and you will see how much trouble people have had trying to get curbed 437's repaired. I had two shops attempt to repair mine and it just never looked 100%, so I sold it and bought a brand new one. A decent shop will get it to 90% and it will be difficult to notice any difference, especially when on the car, unless you really get up close.

Good info, I was thinking the exact same thing about how they will match the color/finish. Maybe I'll let it ride for a while...

Don't sweat it. The wheels have machined faces. The technician will sand the curbed part of the wheel down and polish it out. Yes, if you get right up to the wheel and look at it from a 180 degree angle, you might be able to see that this area is slightly lower...but really, you have to be looking for it.

$150 to $200 depending on size of the curbed area.

My dealer gouged three of my four wheels when removing wheel weights so I’m about to start down the wheel refinish road. Hopefully they’ll just touch up/blend the damaged area in the barrel as opposed to repainting the whole wheel.

They also put a minor tear in my driver’s seat thigh bolster so yay!

Just a little update to this saga - the wheel repair shop that the dealer subbed my wheel repairs out to completely dicked up my wheels. For starters, they "fixed" a wheel that hadn't been damaged and didn't fix one of the damaged wheels. However, the wheels that they did "fix" are now in waaaay worse condition than they would've been had I just left the wheel weight gouges alone. For some reason instead of simply touching up the gouges they completely refinished the wheels. The new finish looks like it was sprayed on with a rattle can - it's very lumpy and so rough in many spots that it's not even glossy. They also completely machined down the faces of the wheels, but the new machined finish doesn't match the OE finish and they didn't machine them flat so there are noticeable high spots on the corners of wheels' machined areas. What's more -- the clear coat was sprayed on so thickly that there are obvious pools of it in certain locations that make the silver parts of the wheel appear gray/black. In a word, the repair SUCKS. It is so bad it's hard to imagine how anyone could think this would be acceptable. Whoever did it obviously just didn't give a shit.

The good news is that my dealer agrees with me and is buying me four new wheels. All over a few gouges that could've easily been touched up without having to refinish the entire wheel.

Sorry for an old thread but was happy w/ my results. Previous owner had some rash on driver side wheel. I degreased and used Jeff's bmw 668 paint. Decent touch up

It was good color match (jet black) but didn't last long term. I ended up having the wheel professionally done this week.
