Those GTS seats are great but interior is one area I don't want to mess with since this is still mainly a street car for me. Not planning to get a roll cage or fixed-back/bucket seats anytime soon. Also, GTS seats are going for $12K-13K a pair (definitely out of my price range). I might get a pair of Recaro Sportster CS at some point though. Here are some items on my list with their approximate weight savings: - Catback exhaust: -30lbs - CF Hood paired with lithium battery: -25lbs (hood) -35lbs (battery) - Pair of Sportster CS seats: -50lbs (25lbs each) So I can potentially shave off ~140lbs on top of the 70lbs unsprung weight savings. However, my current priority is the exhaust. Hood, battery, and the seats are probably not gonna happen within the next 8-10 months. |

cntzl, I am curious if the Ohlins setup weighs more than stock, since stock uses aluminum bodies for the shocks. Did you get a chance to weight the suspension bits and bobs?

Congrats!
What spring rates did you go with? I’m thinking of having the Ohlins R/T installed over winter. And more feedback on the suspension as compared to stock please.

I'm not sure if stock M2 suspension uses the aluminum bodies but I might be wrong. Unfortunately, I haven't weighed the stock suspension but I have it so can do it at some point. On the other hand, I have read that Ohlins uses aluminum bodies in one of their articles but again not 100% sure.

Thanks! I went with Ohlins recommended spring rates for M2 (90N/mm front and 190N/mm rear). Especially the rear spring rate is quite high on paper but so far I don't have any complaints. I have read some people even say the ride comfort got better than the stock but unfortunately it's hard to believe for me. I'm running 15 clicks from full stiff and it's stiffer than stock. However, this is what I wanted anyway. I think it's still a very comfortable ride while the handling is on the next level. The car feels more planted and stable. I only drove 500 miles on stock suspension was quite impressed with it. To be fair, I liked stock M2 suspension better than my M4's adaptive suspension paired with Macht Schnell lowering springs. Ride quality on my M4 was pretty bad and I believe it was mainly because of the lowering springs (as well as 20" wheels with 30 sidewall tires). I quite like Ohlins so far but still saving my final judgement for my first track day with them.

Love Hockenheim Silver! Would love to see any videos of the car put up here! You gotta at least get a basic tune on the S55, beautiful car.

Update - 12/04/2018
I'd like to quickly mention the MDM on this car. I drive in Sport+ with DSC off about 99% of the time. The main reason I got used to this combination was because of my M4, in which both DSC and MDM was too intrusive (I have tried coding Euro MDM, Euro GTS MDM etc and didn't really help). Now back to M2C... Out of curiosity I decided to try MDM in M2C in the past week. It's no where near as intrusive as the MDM on my M4. The real test would be on track but after some sprited driving I haven't seen it flash at all. It allows tire spin and doesn't really cut the power with the slight bit of steering input or road imperfections. Again, I didn't push the car as I would on the track but considering this just US MDM (usually known as being pretty restrictive) I'm pretty surprised. I'll probably still continue to use DSC Off since it's the only way to turn off auto rev-match but MDM seems like it'll be a solid option for many people who don't want to take big risks at track. I'm also planning to code Euro MDM at some point and make some comparisons on both street and track. I also got my windows tinted today (Suntek 25% all around) and it improved the overall look significantly IMO. I love it Here are some pics: |

In my thread on EPS evaluation where I took my car to the 1/2 mile wet skidpad event, I mentioned trying a few laps with MDM on to evaluate it also. I was very surprised how much wheelspin it would allow as I expected that would never get by the legal team. It will reign it in of course, but it is much less intrusive than MDM mode on my E90 M3; much less. I could get the car to drift at a slight angle for maybe 1/4 lap of the pad even. However, the car wasn't responsive to additional throttle to keep the drift going once it started to regain composure. MDM mode would pull everything back in line given a small perturbation in the drift attempt. I found a slight Scandinavian flick with moderate throttle would get the tail out again at a slight angle, and I could hold it there once again for a little while. The net was MDM was very surprising since I wouldn't have expected it to allow any of that activity. However, as soon as I switched DSC off, it was of course a huge relief as now the car was super controllable and fun once again with massive doses of throttle as needed, etc. Hence I only did a few laps with MDM on just to see how it behaved.

I was on the phone to some companies in the UK today to get prices for PPF coverage, I then saw your updated pictures and started asking for quotes on this too. One company said they would throw in the roof wrap in black for free if I took out a full coverage PPF option with them. I definitely want the rear lip spoiler too. I am like a kid in a sweet shop!! |

The roof and the tinted windows just work so well on this car. I think it's the lines or something. It's such a shame they don't offer the CF roof as an option from the factory.
