Has anyone from the US gotten the new update or been locked out? It's sounds like this might be for OPF cars only... Is there a way to see if the update is across the board internationally?

My understanding is that the dealer only MUST do recall items at a service interval. In the USA, the software is NOT recalled - and therefore not required. In countries where the cars have OPF, the DME update is a recall item.

That being said, some USA dealers have applied the update anyway, so it's probably best to talk with your dealership prior to taking the car in and understand clearly what they will/won't do.

There are US guys on here who have had the update and been locked out yes.

But there is no requirement to ever take your car to BMW for servicing, so no requirement to have any updates unless.....

The term "recall" means you will be written to by BMW and asked to take it in. Some recalls being compulsory others voluntary.

This is neither, and seems to be just a regular update that will be done at next visit to BMW.

No one has requested that I must take my car in, so it will not be going anywhere near BMW.

I agree and do my own work including custom fabrication on all of my cars. The only reason I even consider going near a dealer for minimum service is for the piece of paper that goes in the folder in the event I sell. At this point I may just give up on that.

I also believe if something catastrophic were to happen under warranty and you don't have service history that might not go into your favor.

The s55 does have some pricey replacement parts..

Having taken delivery of my m2c this week and not having the latest update, I'm going to have to decide whether to specifically tell the dealer not to do any updates (and risk alerting them to the fact that there is one) vs staying quiet when I take it in for the 2k km service..

Has anyone tried to use a USB to OBD cable instead of the Ethernet to OBD? I have a surface pro that has no Ethernet port and would rather not deal with an adapter.

If there no ethernet port, its not 'Pro' enough!

afaik you need ENET OBD as you need TCPIP link.

Ethernet adaptors are easy and cheap. I have slim non enet laptops and they all came with micro enet adaptors.

Shoutout to PTF team, i was having issues with online coding and they were very fast to take care of the problem although it was not caused by BM3 (i accidentally deleted coding file )

If ODB flashing is no longer available after the BMW software update, would it still be possible to send the ECU to the PTF folks so that they can unlock it?

Saw that the GTS transmission flash was updated to v3.0, tried to flash today and it was successful but within 5 minutes of driving all gear indicators disappeared and I was unable to manually shift.

I tried the GTS TCU tune on my M2C and love the gear changes.
The display does dissappear and only works in manual mode (Can live with this).
LC does not work below 3000 rpm and starts off at 3500 rpm. Last settings are never retained and whenever I use LC I need to drop the rpm.

Does anybody know which map has more average power and more top end?
Stage 1 with 20% boost reduction (on all gears) or the CS+ map?

Thanks in advance!

I personally wouldn't use boost reduction anything beyond 3rd gear even with Stage 1. First two gears should be enough for boost reduction but a 10% reduction in 3rd might be an option too depending on the preference. According to this thread, Stage 1 has the highest top end (among the tested maps in that thread) but I haven't tried it yet. I just flashed the CS+ couple days ago and what a difference compared to stock. It has a pretty decent top-end and most importantly the power delivery is exactly like stock. Love it so far!

What I'm trying to do is not only avoid traction issues, but I also want the engine to feel more naturally aspirated with peak power at the top end.

If the Stage 1 map with 20% boost reduction can give me more power throughout the RPM range as well as more top end than the CS+ map (but without all torque spikes) then it may be the best of both worlds for me.

Just trying to understand how these two maps would measure up to each other.

running C's+ with 20/10 reductions. the 10% in second pit down power better than stock.
Did a track session in 3rd (no reduction) and had no issues with traction.
Next I plan to load stage 2 91 with 30/20/10/10/10/10 then remove some reduction once I have more tire/downpipe/crank bolt capture. stage one would be fine put the torque by gear should make it controllable

This thread is ridicules. A stage 2 m2c is completely controllable. Its not like this thing is going rip your head off with tune. If your that worried then why bother? Its still slow asf on the top end.

Will pick up my new M2 Comp in a few hours and will try connect it to BM3 Agent and see what happens.
Just hope they won't update anything with the break-in service
