Umm there are plenty of great cars that are not odd looking but you go on thinking what you want.

Also, your 1M is not exactly svelte at 3,300 lbs. A CaymanS is 400 lbs lighter and is the exact same size.

Screw my daily drive, leaning back towards that comp orange stripe delete tech pkg gt350. GT350 might just be too good of a deal to pass up on at sticker, what a car.

Well for the record I think both the Mustang and the M4 are too big, at least for what I want out of a car.
Agreed. M4 and Mustang are huge

Still leaning towards the M2 but wanting a GT350 has nothing to do with being unhappy with something else. Ford just did an amazing job in making me want a Mustang.. something I never thought would happen.
One of the best and most honest posts out here and I agree 100%, I've always loved the Mustang even though through the eighties and whatnot Ford as well as all American made cars seem to have lost their way.

Ford has bounced back and with huge kudos on basically all of their performance model cars and this Stang has to be the King of them because the sound alone is such bad @$$ that it makes you want this thing just for that even if for nothing else.

Still a flat plane 8 cylinder multi-valve monster with an 8200 tach without a turbo is just insane, imagine if you add a turbo to it or an SC as an aftermarket purchase?

I imagine the aftermarket for these cars is going to be huge. I better stop talking because I think I'm talking myself outta the new M2.

so I've had my GT350 a month now.. LOVE it. Amazing car, but I've always been an M fan. The M2 still captures my attention and admiration. For now I'm sticking with what I have, but I do consider switching.

I think I just need to test drive one, which isn't likely to happen any time soon.

Gt350 definitely interesting, but the sheer size of the car is a real obstacle for me. I had a c7 for 3 weeks and didn't like how big it was, the gt350 is even bigger:

gt350 width 76 inches

c7 74 inches

981 71 inches

m2: 72 inches at front and 73 inches at rear

Never liked any of the previous shelbys really but this new one is damn good!!!
Seems like it's not just an ugly, good sounding, straight line vehicle anymore. This one has more substance to me.
Very different cars... If it had to be a daily I'd do the m2 if it was a weekend track toy I'm sadly saying 350gt.

I drove my friends c7 a couple weeks and was thinking the exact same thing!
Coming from the 1M I felt like I needed two lanes to drive! Haha

Same here. I currently drive a BRZ so the M2 will initially feel huge, I'm sure.

I sat in a 2015 Mustang and the hood was so long! I saw the GT350 at a car show and it looks amazing, but for DD I don't think I would enjoy living with it. (V8 thirst + size) If I'm driving something that big it needs to have 4 doors. The M2 may not be a lightweight but I'm more focused on the smaller footprint which is hard to find in modern cars.

I don't know about you but as far as "gobs of torque" goes, the 350 has more of it. Either way the fords probably the better track day car. NA motors just provide a different experience that I very much like.

I've been asking myself the same question and appart from 8200rpm redline flat crank V8 there is no reason I would choose a GT350

Let analyse both: Base price loaded M2 61000cdn$ Stripper GT350 63099cdn $ Disavantage there
Acceleration: M2 0-60 4.3 sec from bmw underated specs Gt350 0-60 4.3 sec as tested by c/d
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...0r-test-review

1/4 mile the less powerfull 1M was doing 12.8@ 110 with ps2 so lets see for the M2 but 12.5 is nothing the M2 won't acheive I beleive. GT350 12.5@117

Skipad Gt 350: 0.98g the 1M was doing 0.97g with ps2 tires ...

Braking the Gt350 is doing 152ft for the 70mph-0 the 1M 159 and the M4 150 so let's see but it seem close anyway.

Pratical : trunk space and back seat space is better on the M2
Fit and finish: M2
Free maintenance: M2
Prestige: M2
European delivery option: M2
Weight at least 300lbs advantage in the M2
Annual displacement taxes: M2 none GT350 178$
Fuel economy Gt350: 16mpg M235i(which should be close to the M2) 22mpg

So unless the steering feel or the drive is horrible in the M2 I don't see any point to pick the GT350.

Sorry to break it to you buddy.. but besides the M2 prestige. The GT350 will run CIRCLES around an M2.

GT350's run high 11's. Most trap 118-119mph.

The only thing the M2 does better is be smaller, better fit and finish and that's about it. You seem to bring up the 1M as if it's a comparison model to the GT350? It's not.

The GT350 will be the rarer vehicle. With better sound. Subjectively better looks IMO. It will be faster. Brake harder. Hold more speed in any corner thanks to 295/305 Super Sport tires. It will faster in a straight line. It will have a 8200+ RPM V8. 526hp vs 365hp. More torque (although not as immediate).

I mean I could go on all day. There is a reason there's a 54 page M4 vs GT350 thread on the M4 forums.. because it's faster than the M4. Which is faster by elimination than the M2.

That's why they show pics of the 2002 and the E30M3 next to it in all their literature :-)

If you would like a direct comparison, perhaps consider the BMW 1M and the Laguna SECA edition Boss 302.

Both were produced in figures of around 750 for 2011 and the mustang also was made in other years also.

Which one is still relevant today ?
Which is worth more today ?

And yes. I am sure the 302 is still "
Faster" today , but I don't hang out at dragstrips

You're in the wrong forum if trap speed is all you think of. I've never been concerned about my 1M being slower than an E9x. I'm concerned that it's smaller, more nimble, and weighs 300 lbs less and a helluva lot more fun to drive !

The E30 M3 is " slow as molasses " compared to the E36 M3, but only one of those two is truly magic in the corners. The E36 M3 is impressive but no way is it as nimble or as fun as the E30M3.

A true M2 buyer admires the M4 but doesn't want a vehicle the size of an E28 5 series.

In the same fashion, while the mustang may be faster than an M4, I don't want a vehicle as big as an M4 . So Who cares if it's faster ?!
