For 65k I was thinking:
stripper ///M2 with upgraded suspension, tires, cage, bucket seats, power tune, loud ass full race exhaust (#becauseracecar lol). should be able to outrun m4s or be close but be way more agile, awesome, fun.

An M2 running a tune and so called 'upgraded suspension' which usually just means lowering the car with new damper and spring will not outrun an M4. It will just accelerate the wear and tear of moving parts, make the car more twitchy to handle at the limit and voided the new car warranty completely. If you find the M4 is too big and you want to outrun it, buy something else. |

My dealer also confirmed that the M3/M4 competition pack will be released by mid 2016 and this time with power increase.
They need to up the ante amid all the fierce competitions from AMGs, Audi RSs, Jaguar..etc |

in socal tracks I believe it will be a driver's race. wear and tear is part of the game. I'm going to drive the shit out of my car. if it's twitchy the more fun it is. my car was setup with toe out in the rear for some strange reason and it was fun just sliding through full turns wot. just have to be able to dial it in. and I would be more inclined to strip out a smaller car that has no use for rear seats anyways vs a more expensive car that can fit people in the back. it's all about perspective. haven't seen any m4s yet destroying modded e92 m3 times besides at autoclub speedway where the power just blasts you into speeds that the e92 just can't attain on the front straight before hitting the bank. heck I think I can be 1-2 seconds off the fastest m4 at that track with my friends modified 135i just due to the straight line acceleration and the m2 with similar mods should be even better.

at least kw cs but mcs, jrz, pick your choice. not just for "lowering". having a fast car doesn't make you fast at all at the track.

Nobody compares stock to mod so pointless discussing how a modded M2 might be potentially faster.
Anyone that can afford an M4 can just easily afford mods. Your one dimensional objective can be achieved with any car that has aftermarket mods. Why spend that much if you just want thrills? Buying a new car and then mod it the way you do the new car warranty will be voided. Why even bother to buy a new car in the first place? Anyway in no way I see this 'mod' M2 an improvement over a standard M2 in shape, form or function let alone an M4 but if mod is your game then yes it is a much cheaper M car to play with. I get Socal's point. Sometimes a smaller car is more fun, and faster. And less expensive, even with track suspension mods. And if SoCal goes to the track a lot what he is saying makes sense to me.
Indeed, the M2 may be more trackable than the M4. Time will tell. There are many routes to having fun in a car. |

We have a mod friendly dealership that we go to and warranty will work itself out regardless. In terms of a modded car to perform strictly at the track, it will be way better than a stock car for me. I would also say that a stock car driven on the track frequently has more wear and tear than a properly setup car with track goodies. Brake pads will melt, tires will not wear optimally, engine may keep throwing codes, dampers will prematurely go, etc. There are other cheaper alternatives yes, but I am an M car whore and porsche just gets $$$ to play with. GT4 would be optimal but should I wait for a used in 3 years just to still probably pay at least msrp for one? Time will tell but for now this alternative sounds enticing.

The M4 comp pack issue is weighing heavily on me now as I may want to order for ED in Spring/Summer 2016. Although I may miss out on the M2 if I can't order soon. PS: Sorry for the necro-bump. |

Excited to see how they integrate the water injection into the comp pack...I'm sure they'll throttle boost in first few gears so power could be put down.

I just peaked at the ZCP thread. Looks like the struts, springs and swaybars will be different. The exhaust is also a different part number. If they somehow increase the power by a little bit, while not pricing it like the M5/6 ZCP, then I might be interested in adding that to my F80 build. It'll be interesting to see for sure |

The M4 ZCP will be way faster at the track. The regular M4 is.
We can talk about the M4 being the size of an aircraft carrier all day, but the fact is it weighs exactly the same as the M2 and has 60hp more -- this is significant. Anyone know if they changed the turbo of the N55 for the M2? If not the comparison is even worse, because the M4 is getting 550hp very easily while the N55 turbo peaks around the 370hp The M2 is extraordinarily 'dense'. I was more excited when I thought it would weigh less than the M4 |

No one has said it won't be engaging or isn't a cool car, but if someone expects this to be faster at a track than the F80 they are in for a surprise. It's a shame, because otherwise this would be a great track car vs the F80 |

$51k vs. $68k for the ZCP (assuming the option will be close the E92 price). Not exactly a small step up in price.
