Brake Difference M2 / M240i
They both have 4 piston in front and 2 in the back right? M2 has perforated rotors, which is basically cosmetic on modern brakes from what I understand.
What are major differences? |

M cars have more aggressive M pads and the M cars have "M compound discs" (as in in two part discs). Basically the discs are a bit bigger than the non - M car's discs and have an aluminium center hat like racing brake discs. This hat is pinned to the cast iron rotor to allow for differential heat expansion of the 2 materials. If you track the car you will hear tinging when you park the car and let it cool down. https://www.bmwblog.com/2014/04/13/n...-brake-system/ As far as I know the calipers are the same, a common upgrade it to get the M pads. Discs probably cant be swapped unless you do the M knuckles too.
