Check all the comments in my videos on YouTube.

Feedback face to face lots of people said my S55 is the first one they have heard that sounds good.

It does big time..

GO up on the M3/4 board and there are tons of posts regarding the AA midpipe solving the rasp and generally poor sounding exhaust...

Exactly why when I found out the Competition would have the S55 I started researching on the F80 boards to see exhaust options. I contacted AA to start taking about options.

Put it through its paces at Daytona International Speedway, you can hear it all out on track.

question!!

loudness from 0 out of 10, with stock being at 2,

- just the AA catback, what rating would you give it out of 10?

- and then include catless dp and AA catback, what rating would you give it out of 10?

thanks!

This has been a question I get a lot. This is a finger in the air thing. But here are my rough numbers.

Stock with valves closed
Cruising 1, WOT 2
Stock with valves open
Cruising its a 2, WOT its a 3 at most

AA Signature only with valve closed
Cruising its a 3, WOT is a 6
AA Signature only with valve open
Cruising its a 4, WOT is a 7

AA Signature + VRSF with valve closed
Cruising its a 6, WOT is a 8
AA Signature + VRSF with valve open
Cruising its a 7, WOT is a 10 going on 11

Oh boy cruising with valves closed with the downpipe is basically as loud as WOT without the downpipes and valves open?

That sounds like a bit much to me

The downpipes alone open up the sound. Many people with the old M2 would just do a Catted downpipe which is not as loud as catless and run stock muffler and were happy with the sound increase.

My daily is an N55 135i that has catless downpipe and full M Performance Exhaust which also includes a Resonator Delete. So my tolerance to exhaust note is higher than other people.

my tolerance for sound is pretty high up there too i'd think...

that is why i think just the AA catback is not enough and the reason why i'd need the catless dp as well to be satisfied. even though its loud outside you'd probably not hear it too much inside the cabin i assume?

before the competition, i drove a M235i with fabspeed catted dp + AWE Tuning mid and rear exhaust, it was fairly loud outside, but inside... for some reason BMW does it real well and its pretty quiet unless the windows are open.

Correct, all this is outside.

Inside cabin you can't hear much unless the windows are down.

Valve open and doing 80mph on highway I can have a conversation in the car with no issues.

Looks good Btw Ban, because of you I also went with the AA sig and I have no regrets. It sounds amazing and the build quality is top notch. Thanks for the write ups and vid's.
