BMW extended warranty worth it?

I'm buying a 2020 m2c with 10k miles, do you guys think the extended warranty is worth it? The warranty currently expires in October and the cost is as follows. They will only cover up to 3 years or 75k miles. I wouldn't mind buying if it was 5 years/75k miles but 3 years seem kind of short. This is through bmw refijet.

Platinum $6700
Gold $6050
Power 4400

Thank you for your help.

Lots of threads on extended warranties. Here is one example: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ended+warranty

I will share that BMW in their extended warranty sales message focused on potential failing electronics and not the primary mechanicals like engine and drivetrain. I bought a 2021 last year and get a short extended warranty to cover the fact that I don't drive the car during the winter and wanted an extra year to shake out the vehicle if there were any problems.

Thanks guys. I’m going to try to call bmws around to see if they can offer it cheaper. I don’t mind buying but seems steep for 3 years. I’ve seen people pay less for 5-7 years but that’s probably a new vehicle.

Oh yeah, that's another thing. If you say no at first and appear disinterested, they will end up offering you a Manager's special or have some kind of sale. I wasn't originally going to get it but then bought it after they offered a reduced price.

IIRC, they sell these policies the same way they sell parts - you can buy one from any dealership. Used to be that there were dealers selling them at close to cost, same as for parts (i.e. getbmwpartsonline). Worth an internet search if you are going to spend the $.

Thank you for your help.
Have you spoken to someone in the finance department of a local BMW dealer? I just helped a friend get an extended warranty on a 2021 M3, and he was offered the 3 year extended warranty, but for a LOT less than any of the prices you're listing. I talked my buddy into getting the warranty based on his big M-sport brakes - that alone is a deal... Good luck with a solution!

These packages can be sold by any dealer, so you can find online dealerships who sell them at- or near cost; I think much less than that. 6k is pretty steep for anticipated maintenance (and I'd verify if the warranty will even cover wear items like brakes - IIRC the free maintenance is a separate 'package' that you can only get from new).

with only 10k on the car, I don't think I'd spend $6700 for 3 years. It's a waste if you plan on modifying the car, and if stock, I can't see you spending anywhere near $6700 in repairs in 3 years. These cars are pretty solid, as far as BMW's go.

Not worth it. My car is coming up on 6 years old now. No issues. It would of been a huge waste for me to get extended warranty.

Generally not worth it…these cars have proven to be pretty reliable. Take the money you’d spend on the extended warranty and set it aside for future repairs, and earn 5% on it while doing so.

I don't think its worth it in this car however the proposition is better if you daily the car. If you are going to put the miles in that the warranty covers then worth it a bit more but if you going to get a warranty and then use it for a few miles on the wekeend definitely not worth it
