Have you updated on OG M2?
Yes. Basically it becomes like an lci - big changes to traction/dsc, exhaust valve control (louder) and steering.

The car feels much quicker as the dsc is less intrusive.

I then coded the car to have m2c steering - another massive positive jump in feel.

Fully recommend doing this.

Does anybody know from what production date bmw will have this latest istep / dme update that has closed off flash tuning options?

My m2c left Antwerp on 27th Feb and build date was 8th Feb (according to vin check). So the software / DME stuff would have been done sometime within that time period.

Taking delivery in 3-4 weeks so I guess I won't know for sure until I get it and check

I believe someone on this post already said it was production dates starting in 1/19 and on from there.

Yeah, was in a different thread (the BM3 for M2c) where that was posted. Guess it'll force me to keep my car stock for a while at least.

Are you running the S1 Litchfield tune?

What BHP does this give?

Hi guys,

So I've taken delivery of my car! I just exported the driver profile and reading it in notepad it says:

"istep F020-18-11-551"

I'm still learning about a lot of this, but is this the older version (I'm hoping the 18-11 means November 2018) that can still be obd flashed?

Had a quick look to find the numbers for the latest istep update that has locked the ecu but couldn't see it.

I'm not sure how reliable this method of reading istep is and I'll look into checking properly with ESYS once I get some time off work

Thanks!

His profile says Poland, so wild guess = Poland.

Sounds dumb I suppose when viewing on a computer. The mobile app however doesn't show countries. But thanks for the info. It didn't seem like a note we'd get in the states about a DME update.

I'm on the mobile app. See attached.

Wonder if it's OPF related.

Good to know and thanks! My screen size isn't that big so never caught that. Anyway moving on.

Them saying "not adequately robust" makes no sense to me. Seems like they're saying they want to tamper-proof it but that's just a random guess.

Seems real to me, but not compulsory.

It's probably up to individual countries to implement.

BMWUK haven't sent any letters out as far as I know... (i've not had one)

Bit of info for UK owners:

Got a broken windscreen last week (arrgh! FFS!) So it got recovered to local BMW for a new one today.

Anyway, they notified me of "pending items" they've fixed:

Tyre Pressure Sticker
Rear light fixing.

I asked about software updates (worried they might have done that too) and they said there are NO updates pending for my vehicle.

Mines a Oct 18 build, run in service Dec 18.

No worries about this tuning lock update then...
