I have the CF/Alcantra shift knob with the white stitching in my F30. Depending on the colour stitching on my M2 (might not be blue in MY18?), I'll colour it accordinly and move it over...I really like the weight/feel of it and the alcantra has held up surprisingly well. |

I've asked my dealer to get these parts in so I can take a look. The SEMA photos show it with the ///M tri-colour stitching yet the realoem photo for the M2 shows it with Polar Blue stitching.

I think the handbrake is ok, if it's in dry carbon but the gear shifter looks naff. Don't do it OP !

Not much love for this part or thread then. Zero fitted it seems? Looks sort of odd. Shame as the wheel looks amazing.
I notice, like you all will have, that the recent M3/4 updates allow (here in the UK now) us to spec factory M Perf parts I think now. Is this the Porsche model where you never see the 'original' steering, just the M Perf one is fitted from day 1? |

My dealer installed "Interior equip.kit carbon/Alcantara" in my car. Part ID: 51952420600.
It includes two parts: 1. Handbrake - opencore CF, perfect match for the rest of the interior. Thanks to alcantara parts it is very nice to touch, better then a leather one. 2. But the real upgrade is the shift knob. It is a day and night difference comparing to the original one. It is all about the shape. It made a huge difference for me. It is more "natural" or convenient for my hand. Shift knob is not illuminated, because "some parts were missing" They will fix it later. Highly recommended mod. |

I do not mind working with my foot and hand in the traffic however keep in mind I have never owned a car with the automatic transmission. I remember that you are coming from the Golf GTI with DSG, so your case is different. Regarding manual in M2 I have mixed feelings. I had a 1 week brake with my M2, and got back to Golf 7, and then I was like: "The shifting in Golf feels so much better". I don't mean materials, because shift knob in Golf is lower quality (especially when upgraded M2 to M Perf. shift knob - a league higher), but the precision and "feedback". I did not notice this in first days / weeks with my M2 - perhaps I was adopting to a new car. Strangely my feelings got better after upgrading the shift knob in M2. Perhaps it is a placebo effect, result of higher quality and pleasant to touch materials OR the M Perf shift knob is lower than the original one, so shifts are shorter. I need to compare the height of both knobs. If you are going with manual, go ahead and configure it with M Perf. knob, it is totally worth it. The next step would be the short shifter mod, which I will consider after modding the exhaust. |

The new part is much larger and contoured better to fill the palm of your hand. Especially on a 1st, 3rd and 5th gear selection. I agree it does look a little Fast & Furious and the fact that it illuminates are not reasons to upgrade. |

My biggest issue with this part is the Micky Mouse wiring 'solution' from BMW..... they provide you with a splice!

Hi. I'll be honest I had to google how the existing gear knob came off! In hindsight it's very easy once you know how
The wiring was the 'hardest' part due to the crap splices. You have to tap into the drive mode switch light so the gear knob only comes on when the lights are on. |
