I get constant 17-18l/100km (16 mpg).
I do 200-250km per tank.
I don't care.
I love it.

20.2 mixed Highway and City. I'd say it's honestly not as bad as I had envisioned.

typical Sydney traffic, average speed 28-32km, normally get 14.5 - 15.6 L/100km, don't really care. Cannot drive in comfort mode.

11.2 l/100km here, combination of city and winding highway about 50:50.

How do I do it? Spirited driving where I can enjoy it, more sedate in the City where I would just seem like an a-hole if I raced from stoplight to stoplight.

I'm at about 22 mpg (~11l/100km) on my last two tanks of 50/50 driving. Like Bluenose-2er I drive spirited when I can but I'm more sedate puttering around town where I could get a ticket in second gear and arrested in third.

Consistently seeing 11.5 l/100 kms. after 3,000 kms. of mostly secondary roads (with increasing pressure on the throttle pedal after breaking-in) and some autobahn.

I'm at round about 11.3 l/100 km, the car is used daily and luckily my commute includes some quieter rural sections, so I get to enjoy driving the car properly every day, but I guess most of the time I'm just pottering around in traffic.

I am quite impressed with the fuel use on motorways though, if I stay below 3000rpm, it's 'relatively' efficient.

I used to drive a Mini Cooper when I cared about gas mileage and wanted something that was a fun driver and easy on the wallet. When I bought my M2, I decided to quit caring about it and just drive.....! No idea what I'm getting and I don't care anymore

Strange, yet you are on a thread that's concerning fuel consumption. You might want to start another one on if you "don't care" about fuel consumption.

Good rule of thumb...

Only trouble is, the fuel gauge on the M2 is divided into sixths, NOT quarter tanks....

We need a new Rule of Thumb!

Nope, on my EURO-spec M2 the old Rule of Thumb still rules.

Here's why:

I have a 24.1 mpg average over 18 months... including my autocrossing habit and some track time, as well as some (not a lot) spirited driving on the roads. It's my daily driver. 50/50 split between city stop-and-go traffic and highway/expressway. Has come down just a little bit from the break in period, when I really took it easy.

Probably same. I do have average about 13.2 l/100 km, 17.8 mpg, 90% city and around city driving.

How many of you guys are driving the DCT compared to manual? I'm curious if the DCT is actually lower MPG.

I only ask because my current 230i is using the automatic transmission and i definetly get worse gas mileage if i were to drive in sport mode compared to my S2000 which gets an average of 22-25mpg with spirited driving. Also i noticed zero difference between driving in Eco mode compared to Comfort as my MPG was pretty much the same across both modes.

Im going to be getting my M2C in MT but i've also never driven an MT that has Comfort, Sport, Sport + as options. I can understand Sport+ just being no nannies on, however does the throttle response change that drastically with a MT? Its hard to imagine enjoying driving this car without immediate throttle response when dealing with a clutch.
