Tunes?

Hi all I just took delivery of my 2021 M2C and considering a tune. Is there a tune out there that won't mess with my warranty? I'm happy with the exhaust as is and really don't wanna mess with heat exchangers or other mods so what is the safe tune on a stock M2C? Thanks!

I don't think that applies to you

Look into Carbahn's tune if you want your warranty intact

More than a few members here are very happy with it

2021 m2c will need a bench flash to open the ecu

Then you will be able to tune via the obd2 port

If you want to keep your warranty just stay stock power

Tune will give you massive power and torque and you will have serious traction issues

Tune will also risk a spun crank hub

Honestly, i would stay stock.
If you absolutely want to tune, find a bootmod3 dealer, get your ecu bench unlocked and tune your car with the m2 cs tune ( bootmod3 m2 cs tune is an exact copy of bmw m2 cs tune)

You will loose warranty but with that tune i think you are safe

More than that, stage 1 and over,
I think that you need a pinned crank hub to have peace of mind and more rear rubber to put power down.

I think the only tune that will offer a warranty is the Dinan tune. They have their own warranty that piggy backs the stock BMW warranty. Otherwise as was already mentioned, the BM3 M2CS tune is a gem. It is super smooth and plenty of power for the stock M2C chassis.

Carbahn offers the same warranty as the Dinan one.

AFAIK the 2021s are locked from tuning currently due to a software update.

Carbahn and Dinan have matching warranties for their tunes. But all tunes will void the warranty. I think the problem you have is flash tune might not be available to you depending on which DME (ECU) you have. In that case, you might be limited to a piggyback system, which also will voids your warranty.

Might want to look into Mechanical Breakdown Insurance too if you want additional piece of mind.

Completely locked as in can't even bench flash due to hardware changes?

I recommend getting a Jb4 till you can flash your car with bm3 without having to remove the ECU

That's what people are saying. There is another thread that has more details.

How does that work if he has a new, and as of yet, unlockable DME unit? Isn’t JB4 a flash tune?

The Jb4 is a piggyback, it'll work on any ECU version

I have Carbahn stage 1 and love it! Bought the extra warranty coverage and have Geico MBI. My build was 4/2019 and the DME had to be removed and sent to them. Not sure about the status for current builds and tuning in comparison. Honestly, if you're interested call Carbahn directly and ask. They are really very helpful and responsive over the phone!

The stage 1 tune completely changed the car, and in my opinion it's way better! It is a great upgrade! Huge difference from stock! Traction can be slightly tricky from standstill, but nothing a little throttle modulation can't handle. It's the 40mph to 100mph acceleration that's an insane improvement!

JB4 will still void warranty FWIW. My old 320i got flagged and they wouldn't do the timing chain replacement. Dealer's tech computer now automatically scans and flags if the car has boosted over the expected value during every service.

Dang they are locking down modding for sure. I thought my DME being locked and requiring bench unlock was bad enough but the new ones not even being able to be bench unlocked sucks worse.
