The margin may be lower than average but there's a reason BMW priced the car at an MSRP. Paying anything over that goes right into the stealers pockets...

That is such highway robbery BMW should revoke their dealership, but guess if people are willing to pay that....

I work less than a mile from there and was about to go in there and just see what they said when I asked to test drive one...and then gave them an MSRP offer.

SO fucking stupid.

One of my customers just told me Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo, CA. is no longer asking over MSRP on M2's. Not sure how true that is, but it's worth a try.

I know this is somewhat rhetorical, but what transpired?

I spoke to Oyster Bay BMW in NY today and she said I could just order the M2. I asked about allocations and she didnt understand the question. She answered, "you would receive the car within 8 weeks after ordering."

She also tried selling me the white one they had, but I told her I didnt want a DCT. She asked what that was so I told her Dual Clutch tranny. She replied, "its an automatic with paddle shifters."

I just didnt bother anymore after my experience. This was their female internet sales manager.

Didn't even bother going in...I figured if I called, they would just say no to a test drive.

I don't get this tread; MRSP= Manufacturer Recommended Sale Price.

"Market forces are the factors that influence the price and availability of goods and services in a market economy, i.e. an economy with the minimum of government involvement. Market forces push prices up when supply declines and demand rises, and drive them down when supply grows or demand contracts"

I'd check with BMW Of Beaumont. I just left my #1 spot there since I found an allocation locally at another Houston Dealer. Talk to James Byerly at BMW Of Beaumont. I understand its not Houston, but its only 80 miles away.

The reason for the frustration is because the whole concept of a dealer selling a car is very 20th century. Here in the 21st century, we're used to direct or semi-direct sales. Within the next 10 years, cars will mainly be allocated to people directly through manufacturers. Honestly, the whole concept of having hundreds of cars on a dealer lot is very American anyway. In Europe, people are used to ordering cars. Once direct sales are here, there will be a much fairer and clearer process for acquiring cars. Yes, there will be some people who buy low volume cars to flip them at market value, but it will be easier for people to acquire a car at the manufacturer price if patient.

That and the fact that we all know the dealer is pocketing the profit...its not like they are paying any more back to BMW due to higher demand. So in a sense, its just price-gouging a market of enthusiasts...which is exactly what BMW shouldn't allow for a car like this

Can confirm this is true - the waitlist was at MSRP but switched to 10k over in November. I told them I could get 5k over several miles away from them, so didn't understand a waitlist for 10k over. They promptly refunded my deposit which was good.

Bmw of North Houston just called me for an open allocation for $5k over. I just laughed.

Over the last 4 years I bought an E92 M3 ED, an F80 ED, and now have an M2 ordered at MSRP and I have never even bothered to try to work a deal with a Houston dealership. They just aren't very competitive in my experience and what Ive read.

BMW of Las Vegas...will prioritize allocations based on who is willing to pay more. You being in the order bank at MSRP doesn't guarantee you a car.
