If someone is seated behind you? (doesn't happen often, but happens)
Pretty much every car I've owned with this feature ends up crushing the person sitting behind me when I'm getting out. My CLS63. My GSF. Those were sedans....I can't imagine what this would do to someone in this small coupe. Always wondered why there weren't sensors to stop the seat from moving back. Guessing the M2 is no different and you have to manually interrupt the process. |

Thanks. Just coded this tonight. I am looking forward to amputating my first rear seat passengers legs.
It's pretty rare to have anybody sit behind me. I hope so rare as to never occur. |

It has been working for me, I noticed tho sometimes it gets confused and when you lock the car it moves the seat forward back to your saved memory position...thereafter it no longer works. So you may need to make sure it's in the pushed back position when you lock. Or maybe check the coding again and see if it's still saved? Not sure....

You can pay a coder to do it for you if you're not interested in learning how to do it yourself. |

Don't know what sort of parts BMW is using these days in their mechanized seats, however BMW does have a long history of using plastic parts including plastic gears in these sorts of applications. The E36 is the poster child for this sort of thing, and I don't know if they have changed their ways.
If they have not, these gears wear out and typically BMW forces you to buy a whole large mechanism in order just to replace the plastic gear that wore out, usually at huge expense. Some enterprising entrepreneurs have fabricated such things as JUST the gear that wears out, but that might take 20 years or so, as in the case of the vintage E36's, including the Z3(M) Coupes and Convertibles. Only an indie garage will install such a part in any event, you dealer will refuse to do so. BMWs are superficially "luxurious," at least to some extent, when it comes to things such as the passenger cabin. Generally the chassis and the motor and the important mechanical parts are reasonably well fabricated, but when it comes down to the little touches such as seat motors and the gearing that supports them -- not so much. Unless something has really changed in the way that BMW makes their cars, I would personally be loath to over-stress some non-essential part such as the mechanical seat adjusting mechanism just to make entry and exit slightly more convenient. I would be much more concerned about the possibility that huge repair bills await for non-essential parts, bills that will be due after the warranty has expired.

The feature of lowering the Windows on double press of open on the fob I believe is called Comfort "Entry" rather than Comfort "Access" and on my 2018 M2 LCI.
Doesn't need coding but does need enabling as it's not on by default. It's in the Vehicle Settings under Doors I believe. My iDrive has the Tiles on it. |

One other consideration on enabling this feature. Had a friend with this feature ask me to move her car and she gave me her keys.
She is 5'2". I am 6'5". |

Something to consider - if you move the seat too far back and you have a manual transmission, you may not be able to reach the clutch to start the car in order to get the seat to return to its set position. Either that or the coding didn't work properly for me. Also note that it is a function in Bimmercode but you have to use Expert Mode to do it.

I've done this and It works great if you're a fatass and/or have a narrow garage and can't open your door all the way to exit.
The hex value 64 equals to a 100mm. You can do your own math and reduce the hex parameter "64" to a lower value so the seat(s) doesn't retract as far back. Driver seat module: 3000 SM_GLOBAL -> EINAUSSTIEGSHILFE = Modus_FA_SLV 3012 EAH -> EAH_VERFAHRWEG_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 64 3012 EAH -> EAH_SCHUTZFREIRAUM_HINTEN_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 00 Passenger seat module: 3000 SM_GLOBAL -> EINAUSSTIEGSHILFE = UKNOWN, WERTE=03 3012 EAH -> EAH_VERFAHRWEG_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 64 3012 EAH -> EAH_SCHUTZFREIRAUM_HINTEN_SLV_PHYS = Werte=00, 00 |
