Full Xpel PPF question

Hey guys!

So I am traveling to cars and coffee this weekend in Murrieta, CA. I don't have time to do a proper car wash, but would it be safe to use a wet microfiber towel to clean the dirt off my car so it looks presentable?

Or is this just a bad idea and should I just roll to the event in a somewhat dirty car?

Any advice would be super swell!

You’ve got full ppf? detail spray and bunch of clean microfiber is no problem. I’m sure a detail nut will torch my opinion.

Pre-rinse it as much as possible before you start grinding all that particulate around.

If you're passing a do it yourself car wash, stop in and hose it of and finish with the de-ionized water, then let it air dry on your way there. Some detail spray and microfiber should be good once you are there to clean any obvious spots. I have full ppf and don't worry much about it. The car looks clean almost all of the time. Except the wheels of course.

See, that's the thing. I don't want to wash it because my wheels are in good shape (with Armor All Brake Dust Repellant on them). That's why I really don't want to wash it off and wash off the repellant. That shit costs $60 a can now FFS.

Others might not agree, but I think you'd be fine. I have full Xpel stealth and I often use a detail spray to wipe it down and haven't had any issues. If it's on the dirtier side, I'll use something like Chemical Guys waterless car wash

No no no. Bad idea, go dirty or do a real wash.

Trying to wet wipe your car will take twice as long as a quick 2-bucket job (especially if skipping wheels) and it will look like crap. If you want to save the goop you put on them, cover each wheel with a trash bag first. I've done mine in less than an hour, with a spray wax and dry-off (but no wheels).

Hose it and 'air dry'? sure, if you plan to put it into a filtered wind tunnel. Otherwise you'll highlight the wetness with the dust that sticks in it. Looks like way worse crap.

Waterless cleaners and towels are for people who are prohibited from washing with a hose - it takes way longer, costs a fortune in chems, but it's the only safe thing for your finish besides a real wash.

Or just go dirty - you won't be the only person there who did

I think this is the answer I am going with. Plus the fact that is about a 2 hour drive from my house just means the car is going to get dirty on the freeway anyway. No point in cleaning something that's just going to get dirty driving.

Thanks!

Get Grroit’s speed shine and a microfiber cloth. Here is a link: https://www.griotsgarage.com/wash-de...SACEgJ5rvD_BwE

That is what I use to cleanup the M2 before a Cars and Coffee.
