I like to run 32psi hot, which means starting really low. Often I have to take an overdriving out-lap, pull into hot pits, reset TPMS and go back out.

Mine is strictly for autocross; no track. I start at my hot target pressures and bleed down to them after each run.

Just getting into the B-Street game, and looking forward to the limited legal mods. Been reviewing options for a front sway bar. Any new news on good choices for a front bar? Seems H&R makes an adjustable bar, good reputation, sounds like a solid bar (heavy?), and will sell only the fronts if desired. Dinan seems to make the front bar to have, appears to be adjustable and hollow (nice weight savings), but only sold in sets (front & rear) so more $$. Don't really need a nice rear bar sitting in my garage, so right now leaning toward the H&R unit. Any other applications out there?

Looking forward to just doing a sway bar, wheels, tires, whatever alignment possible, and enjoy the pleasure of limited mods. (coming from Street Mod class).

Thanks for any feedback / suggestions!

I’d go with the H&R. I did it on my E36 & E46 M3s for precisely the reasons you stated. If anything, this reasoning is even more applicable to the M2, since it can’t currently run in ST* (which would be the logical next step.

Nice to have the adjustability in bars, but I also value a tubular design to save weight. Looking also now at the Afe bar because it appears hollow design, fairly large diameter, but single hole so not adjustable. Gotta read up more on this.

OG: thanks for the reply! certainly relying on others that have already gone down this path!

I went with the Hotchkis bar because the Dinan was on backordered at the time. Specs are "the same" as the Dinan, both bars. Less than $500 for the set, no endlinks though. After ordering the adjustable endlinks, I saved maybe a couple hundred bucks. OEM links were too long to use on the stiffer settings.

I'm still working out setup, but my car continues to be a bit too pushy right now - on 6/7 full stiff. The Hotchkis bar may actually be a bit stiffer than the Dinan, or it's a driver issue I need to work through.

Look to do tires when you do the bar or you may be very frustrated.

Thanks Boony! The Hotchkis bar is worth looking into. Price for a set about same price as some single bars. Were you running both the front and rear bar when getting some understeer? Pictures look like 4 hole adjustable in front bars. Guessing the stiffer settings are pretty stiff, maybe too much so.

I'm running in B Street, so just the front bar. The specs on the front are supposedly the same as the Dinan. From memory - 32mm hollow? It may actually be stiffer or it's partially me. I did have three years in a C6 Grand Sport with a very soft front spring so driving around pushiness is not new. Definitely still have some fiddling to do with the M2.

Yup, had 2 yrs in a C6Z, and was just getting the car sorted out. Great car, drove pretty awesome once I got my body into the seat. Of course, getting in/out became an issue for my somewhat stiff back. Hoping the M2 will still offer me much fun in B-Street, and be easier on my enter/exiting.

What are you running for wheels and tires? Eventually will look to change from stock, but will do some events totally stock for a baseline, then begin the mild mods

Forgestar CF5's, OEM widths and offsets. Dropped an the front wheel diameter an inch. BStone RE71Rs - 275/35/18 and 305/30/19. FWIW, some very fast guys are running 285/30/18 up front. I'd try it if I had a tire guys willing to struggle with mounting them. Sam Stano was a huge help with my Corvettes so I've continued to use him for the M2 stuff. He can chase down just about anything.

Thanks for the info. That 305 in the rear is tempting, but after running 275/335 on the Z06, I am leaning away from big stagger and thinking closer to square. Mostly for the understeer. Still learning about M2 stuff though!

Getting closer!

My Stingray is now sold as of yesterday, and my future M2C is on the boat!!

Wanting to say in a stock class, moving from AS to now BS, I have ordered a set of 763's from Sun, and gone up one size in tires, 255 / 275 sticking to my favorite AutoX tire, the RE71R.

I really enjoy following you guys on this thread! I've not replaced a front sway bar yet, as I was racing the Stingray since 14, and was pretty perfect stock.

But listening to you guys, it's sounds like a sway bar is a good move for the front. I look forward to learning more from everyone's experience here.

Congratulations on your new ride! Excellent color choice, BTW; mine is SO as well. FYI, the M2C has been classed in AS. Only the base M2 is in BS.

Thank you Geezer! Yes.. AS, same as my last ride. Danke!

So I plan on running the rest of the season stock with only the RE71's. I want to hold off and the front sway bar till I learn this car. Have you done the front bar? If so dramatic difference?

Thank you,

~Peter

I haven’t done the front bar on the M2C. On my E46 M3, changing the front bar seemed to help.

One thing you’re going to want to do is experiment with the throttle, steering and traction control settings. You can do it either via the console switches or the iDrive screen. In particular, Sport+ on the throttle can be a bit twitchy, especially on low-grip surfaces. Try different settings and see what suits your driving style.

Thank you, and noted. I have read elsewhere here that Sport+ is just as you have described. I have read the entire owners manual now online. Still kinda confused by just reading and not having the car to test setting out..

The only way I've every successfully competed (in other cars) is with all T/C off. Are you Autocrossing with it on in some form of MDM?

And if going full T/C off, can we still adjust the steering / throttle / (I'm DCT) shift speed separately while full traction off?

Thank you and happy Memorial Day weekend!

~Peter

Throttle, shifting and steering input are not configurable when in DCT, though I would love to see that option added. Of course, you can flash the car and program whatever set of configurations you'd like, but you have to consider that it will likely impact your warranty. Check our this article:

Mine’s a 6MT, so I can’t speak to the impact of DCT. Regardless of the other settings, traction control is always completely off when autocrossing. Also, remember that you can use the M1 and M2 presets to store two different combinations of settings.

Can you even store full T/C off under the M1 or M2 buttons, or do they just save the steering / throttle / shift setting, and you still need to override T/C in addition to pressing the M button?

I owners manual was not too clear on this.

M1/M2 store everything, regardless of setting. I think when t/c is turned completely off, it makes you press the M button twice.

What I meant by DCT was Dual clutch transmission. I think we may be talking about two different things. And I'm referring to the new M2 Competition.
