It seems like they just want to float some more customer money. Who's to say they'll even refund it once I drive away? This is getting really annoying.
That seems like BS. Every car I've ever purchased, the dealer has always applied the deposit, and you simply pay the difference against the full purchase price??
Exactly. I'm paying full sticker. Not sure why they're still trying to make extra money off me. First they want 3k over sticker because they got other customers to pay 8-10k (pat yourself on the back) then tier one elite apr is 3.99% which is a lie and now my deposit isn't being applied to my purchase??? This guy has been stressing me out for no reason. Needless to say that I don't trust them. Just give me the car and go try to rip someone else off.

I second that, you've already paid funds towards the full purchase price, they should credit that to you're purchase price and you owe the remainder. It's not rocket science!

I know which is why this entire process has been infuriating. This is what he emails me "please refresh my memory, the deposit you gave me was on a credit card right? I need to know so I can have a check made and mailed out to you." I'm sure as hell he wouldn't forget if I DIDN'T give him one. He wanted my debit card for deposit- umm no.

Honestly, I would press the sales guy on this and not back down. They should be crediting it directly back to your credit card and not via a mailed check.

In fact, my CA was clear in pointing out that my deposit was refundable, but I would need to provide the credit card in person for them to do the credit back.

My deposit was also nonrefundable. Someone ordered this car then backed out- not sure how that means it's nonrefundable to me. Because this car won't sell if I don't buy it right? All those crazy options the M2 has. I'm going to pick up the car in a few hours. We'll see if I end up flipping his desk over.

Yeah I think that's some bullshit - it should be a line item on the overall invoice, with an exact amount reduction in what you owe.

I would escalate the issue within the dealership internally...there's no way they've got that right.

Oh I would be calling CITIBANK right now.

They should definitely apply your deposit to the sale.

Ask for the general manager when you arrive.

Keep calm and get your car !
