I feel like my car is slower than when I had it in Europe: am I crazy?

For some reason, I feel like my car is slower than when I had it in Europe. I don't feel the head-sucking effect as much here...and it's got the break-in service done now.

Weird...I know...anyone else have a similar experience or a potential explanation?

The car was new and you were excited with it in Europe. Now you are just used to it. Happens to all of us.

Good point as that was an unknown for me. I forgot what they told me over there...like was it a different measurement than octane or something? Anyway, I filled up with Shell Vpower here which is the recommended one according to my gas lid thingy.

Gasoline and altitude would be the only thing that could make any noticeable difference.

All it takes is a email with a credit card, and fifteen minutes of your time. BM3 will take care of your symptoms. What an amazing time we live in.

No intentions of hi jacking your thread here. But, if you or anyone becomes complacent or board with a S/55s power output, do yourself a favor and just do it! Amazing results with 100% “like stock” drivability. Wouldn’t think twice to have my Preacher take my car for a spin. I would suggest he leave the traction control active however, or his spin could become panoramic.

Should include prepaid legal membership too. Car is already total jailbait from factory.

In response to your title: Yes, yes you are very crazy
In response to your post: First off, congrats on getting your car back! Second, I think it's 100% due to the fact that you're now used to the car. Fundamentally a "break-in" doesn't consist of a material change in the engine. Of course gas can make a difference and I've felt that before, but I think as we become used to the car it's not as "surprising" as it once was. Which is normal.

I mean, I get that it could just be that I'm used to the car, but I hadn't driven it for like 8 weeks (waiting for redelivery). I noticed it right away too. The only thing it seems it could be is the gas quality I suppose.

Do they have to like "convert" the car from EU to US or anything like that? Could it be possible that the tunes or restrictions are different?

IDK...I think I am just crazy. Haha

You do drive a lot faster in the US. Cars are bigger and a great deal more powerful on average. Could be the relative difference?

Yes, you are crazy
Also most European roads are narrower so you feel like you are going faster.

It's the gas. I felt the same from euro top grade gas to Canadian Chevron 94. I can feel the difference between US Shell 92 and Canada Chevron 94 as well.

My Hong Kong stock 1M also feels faster than my 1M in Canada.

Get the best gas you can find if you're always needing the all the power.

They read here on bimmerpost that you were stewing over the delay in re-delivery, so they kept it a couple extra days at the VPC to do a special software update in order to drop 40 hp and then see if you report it on here.

I blame the 10% ethanol blend we have forced upon us here on the east coast - not cz I have any evidence, mind you, just cz it's stupid.

I'm gonna go with crazy.

I wouldn't rule that out, but I think for the most part, I'm judging by how much my head gets sucked back. Haha

all of modern BMWs adapts to driving style, that's why after service it always feel peppier cause dealer reset the adaptation. Just drive it like you stole it for a couple of times then it'll wake up again.
