I think if we all began treating YouTube reviews the way we treat Wikipedia then there would be a lot less stress in everybody’s lives.
Anybody can make a video and post it but that doesn’t mean it is 100% accurate and certainly not guaranteed to be a journalistic masterpiece. This expectation is about as unrealistic as some of the claims made in the video. Sure there may be some useful info in there to get you started but I wouldn’t take anything for gospel until you have double checked the facts with a more reliable source.

While I agree with all the mentioned shortcomings of the review I also have to agree with the final conclusion. I prefer the original M2 looks and sound. And things are more important to me than numbers. |

When he said that the engine in M2 (N55) has great tuning capabilities, i remembered why i havent watched parker in like 2 years.

I'm an OG M2 guy and I think the guy is horrible but I do agree with some of his points. I also prefer the sound of the N55 but the S55 is superior in all other ways.

I agree with a couple of his points, but perhaps he might spend some time thinking about why Merc can make the AMG GT lighter...it's really freakin' expensive. All the cars that have been being compared to the M2C on various threads lately are mostly the same weight as the M2C or heavier. The RS-3 is 3593 lbs and about the same size. The TT-RS is 10 inches shorter and IS lighter (3300 lbs-ish). The Guilia QV is longer and 3800 lbs. The Camaro and Mustang are both a couple hundred pounds heavier and bigger cars. The Caymans are all a lot lighter but get properly Porsche expensive if you want to match the M2C, TT-RS, and the others for options and acceleration. And the Porsche won't solve the sound issue, apparently.
We all need to let go of the weight issue a bit. In this price-class, this is about what we can get. To get a lighter car in the modern world means buying something smaller with a smaller engine (Miata is always the answer?) or spending money, or we all go by TT-RS's and Caymans. 'Cause that's it. I can't find anything else that's actually lighter without spending six figures on a car. |

I think the S55 sounds fantastic once in Sport+ mode; better than my M2
I also think this guy is an absolute tool.

I tend to agree with points 1 to 4 of our fellow Parker, but not with point 5. I find the price of the M2C still OK, at least here in Europa where you can already find dozens of them with discounts of 5-15% in German BMW garages. But I would add two negative points: this damned big moustache-like grill (I try hard to like it, but I still hate it), and the new 788 wheels that look to me like cheap, more ugly versions of the 666 wheels of the M4/M3 ZCP.
On the other side, young Parker should have also outlined the flaws of the OG M2: its poor engine-cooling performances, its OK but unappealing seats, its non-M-mirrors, and its jumpy stock suspension (but is the M2C better in this respect, as it has the same dampers than the OG M2?). At the end, both cars are fantastic, but none is perfect... The guy is not wrong when he says that a simple tune can make the OG M2 (slightly) more powerful than the M2C, e.g. AC Schnitzer brings it to 420HP/580Nm with a simple additional control unit. But to be fair, he should also have mentioned that a simple chip tuning can bring the S55 to another world, >500HP. |
