But if reliability is the principal concern, buy a stripped Toyota that is at least three years into its current model design.
Scotty considers the entire segment full garbage* outside of Lexus. His standard response is to always lease and not surprisingly that's what a majority on this board do.

*Require expensive parts and a lot of them post 100k miles.

Everyone knows he's a moron and if they take his advice they shouldn't be driving a bmw anyway.

All clickbates and endless whining. He pandles to the lowest denominators and gets a lot of views. His viewers are already mindset as to German cars being troublesome moneypit. It didn't help that some German car models are truly electrical dumpster fire.

Didn't watch it and probably won't but I would rather be broken down in my X5m than be driving a soulless uninvolved box of plastic. Yes they have there following but so do BMW. Each to there own.

Oh and by the way none of my BMW's and there have been over 20 in the last 10 years has left me stranded.

Hah, blast from the past. I think that thing was relatively new when I first bought a 3-series. 8 or 9 different people sent it to me. I wonder if they added the newer cars that it's missing if the score would go up. Or down.

Scotty is the living embodiment of the "ok boomer" meme. He's the dusty old guy that refuses to believe anything can change based on a handful of experiences he's had.

Gotta hand it to the guy though, he cranks out these videos like it's nothing and each one gets hundreds of thousands of views.

It's still active. Remember this site rates the condition of high mileage (approx 100k miles) vehicles as they arrive at auction.

For example for the 3-series as of Feb 2, 2020 they've measured 37,605 vehicles with an avg of 115k miles on the odometer.

The F3x is coming in with a lot of problems.

I have spent about a decade in the car business and even if you are going with the more "reliable" brands like lexus you are almost always better off leasing 99 percent of the time. New car every 3 years, always under warranty, no worry of depreciation if its in an accident, etc. In my store more than 95 percent of new car deals are leases.

He's just a professional troll. Sure there's truth to some of his points, but he often exaggerates and goes overboard. In life there is always a grey area, it's not always black and white.

He knows his audience is comprised of cheapskates [like himself] who would rather suffer their entire life than enjoy a piece of fine engineering. He's giving the people what they want.

The rest of us will continue enjoying our superior automobiles.

The word curmudgeon comes readily to mind. He's an automotive luddite and a shrew.

"Nobody needs fancy stuff like turn signals. Just roll down the window and point!"

He gives the impression that despite running a pretty popular car vlog, he hasn't had a single moment of fun driving a car.

I know people like this. Purely view a car as an appliance and chide others for owning fancy cars because it makes them feel morally superior. They argue that their dorky left lane camping Subaru is "better" than a BMW because it has more "features" for a lower price. They have no appreciation for engineering, driving dynamics, styling, craftsmanship, etc.

You can reason with these folks. Let them live in their own world.

And the fact that we get pleasure out of owning and operating motor vehicles really pisses them off. It's like a vegan watching somebody savoring a juicy rib-eye.

Do people really take this clown seriously? I'm not a huge BMW enthusiast (despite owning a BMW at the moment), but this dude seems to think that hondas and toyotas are the only cars worth owning. For a certain demographic, that's probably true. If I had 0 interest in cars, regardless of my worth, I'd probably buy toyota cars as well.

Just before I transferred the money for the M2c I had a quick scan around to make sure it was the right choice and when I checked out the Nissan GTR wow what a car but it's too fast and furious for me and the interior was chocolate box inerds recycled

This is why I buy BMW as it's a package that does have compromise and is not perfect but better than a lot at the price point and maybe higher.

When you say craftsmanship are you referring to the customary 55k-75k mile OFHG and valve cover gasket leaks which for over 25 yrs BMW has yet to address?
