Garage List
1987 BMW 325is  [10.00]
2004 BMW X3  [6.50]
2018 Porsche 911 GT3  [10.00]
1974 BMW 2002tii  [10.00]
2004 BMW M3  [10.00]
Initial info breakdown:

Called CA just now and put a configuration on my name in the order bank.

Only configurable options are: color, if you want or not Executive Package, transmission, interior stitching color and the wheel finish.

Doesn't let you pick brakes or the 437m wheels so I don't believe the car has a base option wheels nor base seats.

I am assuming the base price includes the seats and the brakes as standard equipment.

See couple pics, they are cel pics of the screen so bare with me on the quality.

$61,645 including destination charge.

LBB EDIT: Changed to HS once videos from Ascari surfaced
Blue Stitching
Executive Package
Black finish on wheels

Delivery timeline breakdown:

Ordered Jun 14th
Initially Week 40 but adjusted for ED
ED 10/5
ED Drop off 10/10
Car at final Port 11/3
Car at PCD 11/8
PCD coordinated for 12/5

Only way he can do a configuration on the system. Dates earlier than that would not allow to configure.

This is just a build configuration not an actual allocation and production order.

Not even sun roof option?
Probably couldn't afford the bad PR from the weight gain it would cause.

None at the moment. If I decide on some I can do afterwards since they will all be dealer installed regardless. I would rather do that so I can keep stock parts. Port installed they keep original parts taken off.

No cost. Comes standard with the wheel and you can pick Black finish for no extra cost.

So is there any actual benefit to ask my dealer to input the order now? Or wait until they have their allocations?

It seems to me to be more of a feel good type action rather than material.

It formalizes the process to whoever jumped ahead and had money at the dealer to reserve a space on a list for allocations.

If you are just finding out about it calling the dealer to do this won't help.

It also allows the people looking for one to know exact price they are looking at built to their liking.

So this means that they must give you the next allocation? The dealer can't insert someone ahead of you once the order is coded?

In my mind, I think it is more useful to get an allocation than order in the system.

What I was expecting was that this would lock me in to get a car.

Not sure I understand your point. Nothing beats an allocation.

My dealer has a set list of customers with a deposit for a new model like this.

They have the list at hand with a deposit and a configured build from each customer. Having this in their system I understand associates the allocation availability with the bank request put in.

Once an allocation pops up they go thru the list.

It's a simple process. You can just rely on having the money at the dealer and when the allocation pops up then you configure. But the idea is knowing up front what options are available and what the as built is going to run you.

Regardless, once the allocation is available you have 24 HRs to change details on your build.

Is it usual, or not uncommon for a high demand car for CAs to add orders without an allocation in advance?

If normal, I am going to ask my CA to do it. Otherwise I may just be happy with him confirming my position on their list.

For a high demand car, I'm looking to stay on his good side .

You might be good with just confirming spot on list.
