Ha! No, I'm going to hold out until probably summer of 2019 for a second ED trip with last year of M2 is my thinking. I'll definitely be able to get MSRP or below by then. Plus, the money I don't spend on an M car right now goes to M driving events and other travel experiences!

You doing the BMWCCA event at Thermal in November? 1-day M School is only $750...trying to get them to allow me to apply part of my $1500 M Driver's Package voucher to it...that way I can do two 1-Day M Driver's school for the voucher.

What were the details of the possible follow up lapping sessions? I had a bit of a discussion with the instructors in my group but nobody was very clear on what was possible. Albeit they did say that there were some participants that had returned to do the same course we did many times.

I don't know, tbh. I think that's a recent development/idea that Donnie/Laura had. I heard that there were a few that had done the same thing multiple times. I'd be okay with that for a couple sessions, but then I'd want pure laps. We'll have to see what develops for next year. If there are no BMW sponsored laps, I may do the course and then after it's done do laps with one of the rental agencies and instructors. I won't be done until I break 9 minutes BTG!

I am the same. Problem with doing same course again is that the section training must be done with all participants at the same time otherwise it doesnt work. So think that I will look to hire an instructor and rental track car for a track day. Keep me informed. One of my mates is very frequent visitor to Ring and is planning a double Spa/Ring trip next year early Sept.

I called...and asked. They would not allow me to apply the voucher because its not their program.

To add insult to injury, the 1-day M School is $1550 and they want additional $50 to change to the 1 day M School (apparently the website is wrong). I then asked if they would offer the BMWCCA discount the 1 Day M School and they said they would but the discount would come off the $50 additional I'd have to pay. Pretty fucking ridiculous considering the M Driver's Package was $2500. Never, EVER again will I accept that worthless package.

Brutal...I tried to apply the 849 credit to the car club school in November with no luck. Just have to wait to combine a discount and that credit for advanced M school at some point next year! Or just f**k it and spend the $ on more ring classes...even just repeating the ring class is more interesting to me than advanced m school!

If I even remotely thought I'd be in Germany in the next 12 months, I'd just hold it and wait...but I just don't see it happening...

Plus I really DO want to try Thermal...I hear its awesome...I just don't want to feel like I'm being taken advantage of. I even considered the 2-day M-School but I don't really feel like giving them another $2k for this shit

AND when I was talking to the Performance Center...they apparently used to give out helmets for 1 and 2 day school...like personalized helmets...and stopped because SO MANY people were just leaving them and not even attempting to take them home. :SMH:

Yea no more helmets. The full M school will let you combine your credit and your $1500 so it's not that bad when you consider you get 2 nights in a hotel and food.

it's still $3400-$1500 = $1900

You can get A LOT of track time for $1900 more dollars...but yeah, its not bad

So clearly the 2nd car in the line was holding you guys up...that would make me (if I was driving the 2nd car) even more anxious. Is that really how the free-lapping is run? You can't pass at all?

I honestly don't like that format...I want to go my pace. Not at the pace of the guy behind me pushing me. And I definitely would slow down the closer the person got to my bumper.

Not a huge fan of that format...seems un-necessarily risky and anxiety-filled

When you're on the proper track at Thermal for the M School, the format is lead-follow. There's an instructor leading 3-4 students.

Fun...so its not open-lapping? I guess I'm less worried about Thermal due to available run-off and what not

The margins for error at The Ring are WAY lower
