Let me hear your Catback!

Hi folks...
I am considering exhaust but I cant decide... does anyone live in or near Marin? id love to hear your exhaust.

What I want:
something civilized when valves closed.
BUT
sounds wicked when open

The front runner on my list is the Active Autowerks midpipe paired with the Remus axleback! This will be the system I go for when I upgrade my exhaust. There are several YouTube videos of this set up you can listen to also.

Agree! If you are going to have a shop do it maybe they know of other customers that have M2s or maybe they have one themselves? Just a thought. Good luck!

Just my opinion based on the following:
Connection type between each of the pipe pieces is very antiquated and looks bad compared to modern spherical clamp styles from any other respectable exhaust brand (I won't pick and choose any favorites). It makes it visible from underneath the car and just looks old

Vacuum style valve actuators that would require you to cut into the car's existing lines when the stock car already has working and superior electronic valve actuators. On top of that your OBD port will always be in use to control the valves...just why? The car already has a valve management system.

Armytrix & FI branch off each other's designs since they have used to have ties together so they just seem like cookie cutter exhaust systems out of Taiwan with slight variations and priced absurdly.

There's a reason why they're not very popular on the forums across the various car models.

In the end, I'm just one man stating my opinion but the lack of ingenuity with their brand for their high price point always rubs me the wrong way so I like to voice my disgust

ok... I think you changed my mind.
SO the question remains... what is the best solution here?
EL AA midpipe + AA catback?
or
????

Ultimately it's your car and your taste. To me the equal length mid pipe is fairly nice even with stock muffler.

Personally I prefer Dinan's sound with their X-pipe solution. Not too loud and cleans up the S55 weed cutter rasp

Volume/loudness is the enemy with the S55. Again that's just me though.

It’s actually not loud at all and no drone. Sounds nice to be honest, hard to explain what it sound like to be honest you would need to find someone to have a sit in to listen.

whatever I end up getting... needs to be significantly louder in car. I am a visceral type driver. I want to hear it and run it through its paces. I care how it sounds outside but if I cant hear it inside, its worthless to me.

I'm going for the full Dinan cat back (Res delete and muffler section) I already install the Macht Schnell EVC (gives me total control over the exhaust valve actuation either open, closed, or stock actuation and lets me delete the ASD).

Once I have the parts and get it installed (likely early November) I'll post some videos. I think the EVC is going to be huge because it will let me start the car with the valve closed when I want, but get big sound on demand.

I have a pedestrian FabSpeed catted dp with stock exhaust, which I'm super happy with from a sound and performance perspective. I also have BM3, which can be tweaked (as I'm sure you know) for burbles. I ended up playing around with it for the giggles but set it to quietest possible a year ago and haven't missed it. Initially I got the tune to disable the cold start which was too loud with the dp for my neighborhood at the time I left for work.

Happy to tweak the slider for you though if you want to give it a listen. I'm in San Rafael off Lucas Valley Rd.

You arent that far from me! I am in Novato till my wife and I can buy a house later on this year. As for checking it out, I may take you up on that but I have already purchased the AA EL mid and Remus race rear box. they should be available for install in the next 2 weeks. guess I made my bed at this point but wouldnt mind getting together after to compare!
