788M or 437M: which wheel design do you prefer?

Okay, everyone, coming out of the "No more 437M wheels available for production" thread, it seems that there is serious debate as to which wheel design the community actually prefers. 18 months ago, the hatred for the 788M's was palpable. Constant, unrelenting, unvarnished vitriol! It seems that 18 months later, there may be some love for the 788M's now. But, only one way to find out - empirical evidence.

Let the polling begin!

And we will see

Of course, you should have put options to show the 763 is the most popular, followed by the 437, and then the distant 788.

Also, you should have put it in the general forum, Captain Obvious. lol

I have a sneaking suspicion people will like the 788s more than they used to, simply because there are now more M2C owners and as a community, we've had time to get used to them.

I have gotten so used to the 788's that now I like them. Add ceramic coating to make them easy to clean, well.... 788 are pretty nice.

To be fair, I had 437M wheels on my OG M2 so I had the best of both worlds.

Only 10 voters, and the poll is in the wrong forum...(ie the Comp forum). People tend to defend their cars/choices. Go start a poll on a Mustang forum to see if they like the M2 better, or vice versa...

I'm a sucker for 5 spoke or similar wheels so 437s for me.

They also show off calipers better .

I would do an even trade on the spot. brand new 788s for clean / rash free 437s on the spot. No questions asked

(Full disclosure I have a g05... sigh)

788M grew on me, to the point where I no longer feel the need to replace them. But given the option, I would prefer the 437M.

Also the 788M is a bitch to clean. I use 4 different size brushes/woolies when I wash the car.

I went to the trouble of ordering a car and waiting for it, instead of buying a pre-owned with 788m's...so it's clear where I stand

Definitely count me in as someone who was anti-788 when M2C first debuted. Once I got the car I really took a liking to them. Now I love them and routinely laugh at myself about it....funny what time does.

Include the 763M and both the 437M & 788M can go home.

437m's are ok but they remind me too much of my stock 135 wheels which i quickly ditched for some Advan race wheels, so i prefer 788m's.

M2 owners are going to vote 437M

M2C owners are going to vote 788M

This poll is inherent bias and is merely a numbers game.

I'm also a lot of fun at parties

But we all know the truth. The outrage from almost everyone when the 788 was first seen was extreme. Not only does the design not fit the car, it's heavier, something you always want on your performance model .

No such outrage for the 437M ever existed because it's elegant, just like the car, and very classy in its appearance.

I agree, the 437Ms are fine, I saw some replicas on a 3 Series today and I was drawn to how even the bootleg version looked so classy.

However, I know I must sound like a broken record in keep mentioning the weight difference but the 763M shaves off 2.5lbs per side, of the unsprung mass, over the 437Ms.

In conversion, that'll feel like roughly like adding a Stage 1 tune, give or take, just by swapping wheels.

The 763M, for the win; the rest are merely just spare donuts or winter wheels, IMHO.

Not fair, add the 763M and that 788 number would shrink drastically.

Too funny. That wasn't the original debate. Lots of heated words were exchanged about 437M versus 788M, and which one you should choose as a stock option. One forum member seemed to imply that anyone who preferred the 788M to 437M must be a mentally retarded schizophrenic with Alzheimer's.

Thus far, this poll would seem to indicate that our forum is populated with a bunch of mentally retarded schizophrenics with Alzheimer's.

I have the 788s and 100% prefer the 437s and the 763 beyond both. That said, not going to arbitrarily spend the money on some 437, when I know the 763s are just not that far off in price.

Not a Huge fan of the 788s but I think they look good on the M2C. I did ceramic coat mine which make them a Hell of a lot easier to clean, but isn't the main issue with them the stock brake pads? The 437s just look too dated for me. 763s are a dream due to the cost, but maybe one day..Voted 788s due to these reasons.

Does that make me a mentally retardeded schizophrenic with alzheimer's? I guess I'd probably never know/remember...

You didn't get the memo and have obviously someone read it to you; the stereotype is that BMW owners are inconsiderate, simpletons, who's motor skills doesn't surpass of that for making with mean smokey donuts or step on the throttle to emanate a sweet burble tone, a la that of an carbonate '80s Ford Escort, in need of a tune up.. 🤪
