I already have an order in for M2c but the Supra looks really intriguing. I like the styling, especially the rear end versus the the M2 rear. I'm dead set on a 6MT however and will follow through with the M2. Anyone making the jump to Supra that were considering the M2?

You mean M2C vs Z4 and hell no. The Supra is hideous in the front.

The new Supra is close in price for the top tier version, but there is no chance I would take it over any version of the M2.

Im actually not down on the new Supra at all, I just think the price is too high for what you get. Makes the m240i look like a bargain.

It probably drives a lot better than an M240i. The laptimes are going to be very far apart. The Z4 M40i posts times equivalent to OG M2.

I was going to go Supra until I found there wasn't going to a manual option. 6spd was a must for me in a sports car.

I'm excited about the car but I'm going to wait as I feel that car will eventually get the higher output version fo the B58 which should make it a monster given it's lighter than the M240i.

If it does it’ll be great. Will they greenlight it though...

BMW seems to be very risk averse and I don’t know that a Z4M will exist again. I also don’t see them giving an S engine to Toyota unless there’s a Z4M.

I really just want the M chassis, suspension, and steering bits. The 382 HP variant of B58 is probably good enough.

Hopefully they end up making one though.

Me too. The lack of a stick shift killed any interest I had in the Supra... it is supposed to be a sports car isn't it?

Well, I wish it had a 6MT too, but you can't get one from Ferrari, McLaren, or Lamborghini anymore either. Doesn't mean they aren't sports cars. On the other hand, you can get all kinds of economy cars and trucks with 6MT.

No 6spd, no back seat, the M2C is more of a Supra than the new Supra.

Sounds like a real sports car to me. Most of them now have no back seat and no manual. Not that I’m celebrating the loss of the manuals. Just saying. There is a fundamental difference between a sports car and a GT car. It’s in seating position, shape, and feedback. I spent a short time in an i8 and I can tell you that despite it being a relatively slow car it is actually a true sports car. So, I think this Supra will disappoint but it’s definitely more of a pure sports car than any 2 series variant.

I think the previous Supra was the most overrated car in recent automotive history, too. It drove worse than an E36 M3 and the engine only made huge power with significant modifications. People think they were making 1000hp stock and that just wasn’t the case.

This chassis is showing good results with the vanilla version cars. A Z4M or GR Supra could be a really fantastic sports car.

A bone stock Supra TT would be in a dead heat with a FWD car today like the Hyundai Veloster N in regards to performance and not even in the same ballpark as a Civic Type R. The engine is ridiculously overbuilt which is the car's claim to fame.

I did not know this. I haven't kept up, but figured the Italians would have at least one model each that would offer MT. That's depressing.

Supra would have been great. The Supra always had two rear seats and was known as a 2+2. Although the rear seats were not really usable but like in the Porsche 911 model cars this allows for more leg room up front and allows for both seats in the front to tilt further back rather then to sit in an upright position as if one was sitting in 90 degree angle chair. After a while if you are on the taller side sitting in traffic this can become quite tiresome if you use this car as a daily driver. This Makes the M2 the better car. More leg room and seats that tilt back to where you can even sleep or take a nap in the passenger seat on a long drive. Having to sit straight up is like sitting in a Porsche Cayman or BMW Z4. For short people or short trips this is ok but for tall people and daily driving you need to think about this carefully.

Maybe a tall person problem? I’m 5’10”, all legs, and daily drove my Z4M for 2 years straight. No issue with seating position, actually very comfortable. One of my favorite things about the car was how short it was, too. The ride and level of road noise would be the only things that might bother someone on a long trip.

After being 6 feet tall your knees will start to bend and if they bend for a long time it will be uncomfortable at that angle. This again depends on the age of the driver, height of the person and how much time they use that car for as a daily driver. I owned my Cayman S for over 2 years as well. Fun car to drive and very comfortable also but comfort level starts to decline after an hour of sitting in LA traffic. If one is over 40 and over 6 feet tall the lower back legs and knees start to feel it. This is why I still love the 911 Porsches which have plenty of legroom and seats can recline back like as if one was flying Business Class on a Boeing 787

I agree with everything stated here. My point was that the M2/M2C comes in stick and has 2+2, just like Supras of the past have. These two features, or lack there of, make the A90 a no-go for me, even tho it may be more of a sports car compared to the F87.

The M2 may as well be a two seater. Anyone over 5'10" is going to render the back seats useless as even my kids only have foot room in the back if I have the passenger seat all the way forward. The Supra actually has more usable back space for storage by foregoing the fake back seats so I consider it a win for the Supra.

That's a good one! I like that

In that group I'd certainly choose the GTR. Godzilla had a long reign and in many ways still does.

That’s like comparing a 911 Turbo to the M2 except in the opposite direction. Supra is a detuned coupe version of the Z4. It’s a half a notch up from the 86.
