Paint protection on M2C or not?

Anyone here planning to add clear bra (paint protection) on their M2C?

I'm thinking to do it but not sure if it is worth it or if it will lead to other issues that I'm unaware of.

Thanks!

Get it on the full front end and have them replace the rear fender piece with a bigger one from the door edge to the crease above it to the bumper/tail light.

Completely worth it. I've have it on 4 vehicles now. Also add full rocker panel coverage and behind the rear tires.

I have PPF installed on all my cars. The only temporary downside is to your wallet. You will be thankful later.

I prefer Xpel's products (Ultimate Plus). Equally important is to find an excellent installer with references. Any PPF is only as good as the installer. Attached are some available kits:

http://www.xpel.com/paint-protection...M2_Competition

I would at the very least do the following:

Full Hood, Fender and Mirror Kit
(Front) Bumper Kit Area Kit
Rocker Panel Kit, Extended Coverage
Roof and A-Pillar Kit
Luggage Area Kit

I would consider having your installer increase the size of the 'shark fin' pieces on the front of the rear quarters in Xpel's Rocker Panel Kit. Mine was installed over a month ago and I already caught a minor chip from debris from the front tires. This happened without aggressive cornering (at least I don't think my cornering has yet been really aggressive) and within a few hundred miles of install. I am actually bringing my car to my installer today so he can create a larger piece. That is an easy job for any good installer.

FYI, do not have a partial hood kit installed.

Thanks everyone!

Looks like I need install the PPF.

I got a quote for $6,500 USD for the whole car bumper to bumper. Does this sound right?

How long will the PPF protection last?

Also how did you guys find an installer? Did you look on yelp or through dealer?

Seems about right. Xpel's website I attached would break it down for you. Those prices are a good indicator. I was quoted $5,500 -$6,000 so not far off.

Check where the exotic guys go.

Should last 7-10 years if cared for and not exposed to excessive sun. PPF on white cars will yellow quicker however.

Here is how the larger rear fender piece fits my car. I would suggest they do it like this..

From a good installer $6500 for the whole car sounds about right. I don't think the whole car is worth it as the non front facing parts of the car don't typically get stone chips, but if you can afford it then it will help with swirls and cleaning.

Great idea. That amount of coverage is excellent and as we know needed to stop chips. Sadly, I have a few spots where the Xpel piece fell short of protecting the quarters; better than the OEM piece but not nearly as protected as yours above.

I may end up doing the complete quarter and door kit, which seamlessly runs along the top of the door and down the A pillar.

What did your installer hit you for cost on these two pieces? These are custom cut I would believe.

Just do it.

Expensive yes, but it only hurts until you hear that first PING!...rock going off your hood, then you go out and...no paint chip!

Thanks, I appreciate everyone's response here!

I am getting a quote for $2100 for a custom install of front part:
full hood
full front fenders
mirrors
bumper
headlight
**Using Xpel Ultimate

Does this price sound good? I might add the rear fenders as well and may increase the cost to close to $3,000.

This is the company's website:
http://adonisdetail.com/

They have really good reviews on yelp.

I feel like the odd man out on this one and am almost afraid to post. I don’t think it’s worth it, I like to keep my cars clean but if I have a rock chip on my bumper it wouldnt bother me. $6000 to get a car done, that’s insane, go buy a spare Jeep or something. If someone said I could get my whole car done for 600 not 6000 I’d probably pass still. Don’t worry about it so much, I feel like half the people that spend the money on this stuff get rid of their cars 2 years after ownership.

I have some small chips on the rear fenders / quarters in less than 1500 miles and I am careful. Do do the full rear fender, I plan to add them now. Or at least what Akkando did.

An added benefit of the full rears is the A pillars become seamless.

They were custom. I don't remember because I got the front at the same time and ceramic and just negotiated total price. They regularly do custom work though so no big deal for my place.

If you don't care about rock chips then don't buy PPF. It's for those of us that do care about freezing the car in its flawless new state.

Agreed, it’s completely subjective. To be fair the thread started as a “ do you feel like paint protection is worth it?” It’s just me throwing my opinion out there, I try to be careful and I say things like “I feel” or “from my point of view”.

Is paint protection worth it for me? I’ll keep the money (especially if we are talking 6k) and bring on the rock chips!

I can budget out $2K to $3K max. I will not be spending $6K but some people do.

6k is insane at that point your getting close to how much it would cost to legitimately respray your car lol.

You are but then you have a resprayed car instead of perfect factory OEM paint, which you can't buy.
