So with the brake kit, you're getting the same amount or equivalent heat dissipation from smaller size rotors than the stock 400mm or is that a trade off you willing to take for a lighter set up? |

I was initially planning to but decided not to (at least not for a while). The most of the weight is already in the front so I don't want to ruin the balance by taking 40lbs off the rear. My plan is to pair lithium battery with a super lightweight CF hood. Even then I would shave 15-20lbs extra from the rear compared to front. CF hoods are quite pricey so I'm not planning to do it anytime soon. I need to invest in some track wheels now since my Apex wheels from my M4 do not fit on the M2.

Great post! My M2's currently being built, but I have some similar plans. I also had an M4 for a while; loved the power delivery, and the exhaust really grew on me. But it was the size that bothered me, having come from smaller M cars. I also highly anticipated the arrival of the M2, but was a bit disappointed with the engine, and lack of tuning potential.
In terms of the 6MT feel, if CAE is a bit more than you want to spend, I know Ron at AutoSolutions has worked closely with the guys at P-Tech with SSK's. I think he's developed a kit for the M3/M4, which should be applicable to the M2. While it will never make it feel like a Miata, it may help. I'll probably do this myself. Have you looked into the Ultimate Clutch Pedal? I had it in my M4, and felt it made a nice, noticeable difference. I'll be putting this in my M2 Those are some excellent weight savings with the BBK! The cost is a bit hard to swallow for a poser like me who would rarely (if ever) track my car, and just use it as a canyon carver. But I'll still dream about it I was hoping the CF roof would have been a factory installed option, but alas, no. The CF hood + roof would be some nice cosmetic/weight mods (mostly cosmetic), but the ~$10k cost is a bit hard to justify. As for HS, it really shows how the color is a chameleon depending on the environment. In the Bay Area, it seems like it's a bit darker and more saturated, which I much prefer. Congrats on the M2! Love the mods thus far! |

Today I installed my M Performance spoiler and painted my muffler (thanks cptobvious for encouraging me ). Really liking the new overall look.
P.S. Don't mind the weird ride height. Rear is lower than what I'd prefer and front sits at a good level. Everything will be readjusted once it settles little more. |

Agreed - wheels look good and the spoiler works well with the other black bits - wheels, rear reflector 'deletes', exhaust tips, and the newly 'erased' exhaust can. All ties together nicely and the weight savings so far are impressive.

This thing is pure porn.
Why horizontal slots instead of honey weave in the reflector delete? |

You will love the Essex Pro5000R AP-Racing kit. They are in a league of their own compared to what you're used to on your M4. I wish I had it on all my cars.
Should have gone with JRZs though! Lol! Did you ever weigh your M4 comp? What did it come out to?

I don't track nearly as often as you so I thought Ohlins would be nice upgrade over the stock suspension My only concern is the rebuild interval for Ohlins. We'll see how long they will last for me. I have never weighed my M4 unfortunately but it had MPE which saves about 25lbs over the stock exhaust so stock vs stock my M4 might have been lighter than the M2C (most likely it was). I'll try to save another 30+lbs from the M2 with an exhaust and take break for a while for modding M2 doesn't have lithium battery so there is a huge potential to shave off another ~40lbs with a $700 lithium battery but I don't wanna remove that much weight from the rear without touching the front (not to upset the weight distribution). |
