i've had two and one for about a year without issue. there are several great cleaners that can be used if you find it getting grimey for whatever reason. the feel and heft is amazing. best wheel available for us.

So far I'm loving mine. We have an X5 with the standard wheel and it feels very different and looks amazing. I was on the fence about it a while when I was waiting for the car. I'm so glad I went for it.

Same for me. I got it from the start but my friend still has the original steering in his M2 and they are so different. It changes the whole cockpit in a good way. My friend wants one now.

Man, I really dig the Blue Stripe on the wheel. But I'm not sure I could live with the Alcantara sides... I wish a full leather option was available, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I'm going to keep it on the backburner for now. Maybe one day I'll change my mind, if only for the blue stripe.

Just got my Digital M Performance Steering Wheel with carbon fibre. This is the first part I have ordered for my car. In fact, my car hasn't even been made yet but it will be ready to be picked up in Germany at the end of this month. I will have them install this sweet wheel, the M performance exhaust and tips, carbon fibre manual shifter, black kidney grilles, and m performance floor mats.

Only one more month!!!

IND will actually swap out the Alcantara with leather for you. I looked into this but it's not cheap. They basically need to re-cover the entire wheel for it to work right. I like the look of the alcantara but just concerned about premature wear. I read good things about a cleaner made by Sonax though so I may go that route.

While it is true that the alcantara can wear faster, the wheel is so much better than stock its worth it. Sonax is easy to use.

I didn't know that IND is able to do that. I might look into it eventually. I got a really good leather cover for the wheel for now, that also has the blue marker that I wanted. Might eventually switch it out, but for now I think I'll focus on some of the exterior carbon fiber bits I also want.

My only fault in the wheel is the flat top that has a pointed edge into your hand. It's uncomfortable if you drive for any distance holding the top of the wheel. Look, sides, flat bottom all fantastic.

Is this about the M Performance wheel? I guess I wouldn't mind too terribly. Previous to this car I would most often hold the wheel 2 and 5, but 3 and 9 are really comfortable with this wheel.

Yeah, the M performance V2. Not sure why they didn't make it round up top.

Good thing that you changes you hands. In an accident, you would get hurt with hands at 2 and 5 by the air bag.

easiest way is remove wheel and front and rear trim pieces for full access. you can push the flat top part downward while releasing the clip from the left and right sides but simply pushing outward. just make sure you push from the top so the hole clears and pops out from the one side then the other. if done this way, you can reuse the existing and save the new one for another swap or down the road.

Thanks man. Was kind of a b*tch to take off but finally got it off. Putting on the new wheel was almost as hard.

The retainer wasn't too bad in getting it off with the right flathead, however, it was a bit tougher to put it back on, I followed the TIS and clipped the inside first, then I placed the rubber handle of a hammer on top of retainer and pressed it down, the outside spring clipped on eventually.

I swapped the wheel tonight with worklights in my driveway, it was over 110F during the day so I couldn't do it earlier. Afterwards when I road tested the setup and thought I screwed up on the vibrator, it turned out that the lane departure was turned off when it went in for service and I didn't notice it.

Hope I can keep it relatively clean, that's my only worry with the Alcantara.

Here you go - only difference is rather than bright red I had the red in the wheel a slight shade darker to match the coral red interior.
