Cup 2 on the P car is a different tire than on our CS cars. They certainly require attention. However, from a person that has 15k miles on their cup2s I can attest to it being a fine tire as long as your paying attention to the conditions.
Heavy downpours are the biggest danger, but they just require slowing down. 2nd would be cold below 45 degrees. Grip is reduced, but again, it's not gone. Just be mindful. |

Do you even have a car with either of these tires or is this just trolling? |

I sold tires for 15 years, and if you think I'm trolling, just contact tirerack and ask them. Takes just a few minutes. The way it was explained to me is that a tire is like taffy. If it's warm, and the temperature outside is warm, and you throw it on concrete/asphalt, it just sticks. But if it's cold, and the temperature is cold, it literally cracks, and it's something you can't repair. Will it kill you after doing this? Unlikely. But will you continue to get the same performance out of the tire? Absolutely not. Take any pure Summer tire that has 1 year on it and very low miles, drive it a bit in Winter, then see if you have the same performance next year. It won't be even close. But again, if you think I'm incorrect, just do some research. Last edited by ///MPhatic; 08-29-2022 at 11:36 AM.. |

Running very high performance tires in the extreme cold can also lead to dangerous tread splices later on. Ask me how I know.

Michelin, for warranty purposes, says tires that reach 20f must be allowed to return to 40f for 24 hours.
Running them in the snow does not magically ruin them. Of course I am not a tire salesman just a dumb engineer who designs rockets. |

A little nuance in a discussion goes a long way. Will you "ruin" your tires if you drive in below freezing weather a few times? No. Should you? Not if you can avoid it. If you drive all winter will you ruin the tires? Possibly yes as the compound wasn't designed for those temps.

I've never sold tires or designed any rockets, but I've been driving on all sorts of tires in all sorts of conditions for 55 years. I try not to drive on summer tires in the winter; it's too dangerous, but it happens. I try not to drive on summer tires when it's cold or rainy, but when I have to, I'm more careful.
I don't even know what brand of tires are on my other cars, but I do know they're summer tires. I drive accordingly. I also buy oil on sale, but that's me.

Is it just me or is there a pattern here to sell the CS? It feels like everyone's dumping their car in the 4000 mile area. Thought that was odd or maybe coincidence.

It's just you. Cause I personally just spent $30,000.00 making mine a better car for the track. Better For street, I think so but that certainly is debatable...

I can only recall one forum member who said farewell having sold their car. I think the last poll on here said for 80+% it was a long term keeper and about 7-8% said they hadn't had it long enough to know. About 5% had sold. So 'Everyone's dumping their car?'… |

15% of CS owners selling after nearly 2 years sounds about right. That would be about 90 CS models that have resold. A lot of us like new toys, and when you can trade up for more than you spent, it makes it that much more enticing.
I doubt the percentage of CS owners selling is any higher than any other car of this level. It's likely that more of us will still have our CS in 10 years when you compare it to standard BMWs or even base M cars. I'm keeping mine unless some unexpected misfortune occurs. PS: I'm on PSS and they are really good. Temp doesn't really get below 40 degrees here other than a handful of days with a massive cold front at night in the winter. |

I would be shocked if the $92500 bid wins. Not that the number isn't strong, thats like $97125 far a car that had an MSRP of about $84k.

Yeah, I don't imagine it will go much higher. As badass as it looks, I feel like black on black is maybe a less desirable spec & DCT supposedly being less valuable (I don't agree but...), along with the market cooling all play a role. Even at $92.5 on an auction site it looks like a good price.

Not too surprised. They are great cars but there is going to be a G87 CS or even CSL. Going to guess the crazy high prices are/were more a product of the market.

The $92500 bid did not meet the reserve, but BAT covered the difference. The buyer was indeed very lucky!
bringatrailer @andresberl Congratulations on the win! @Thebollox this car did indeed sell. The highest bid was very close to the reserve, so we decided to cover the difference at our cost. Please check your email for instructions. Thanks! -BaT

Prices are certainly softening. However, the fact that BMW has one in their museum at the performance center speaks volumes when considering the company it was in.
