The gains are primarily from the mid pipe, especially at the stock power levels. The OEM rear muffler is essentially straight through when the valves are open. The two shorter pipes are to connect the single straight section to the two rear pipes of the OEM muffler. |

Just watched the video, sounds pretty good. I wish the muffler canister wasn't so ugly or I could do with just the 1k midpipe and call it a day but still may have to get an axleback to get rid of that ugly muffler.

Can someone explain why BMW uses a double? If sound, weight, and most likely cost, are all better with a single, I can't think of why BMW wouldn't have designed it as a single from the factory. There must be some trade-off, no?
