Did someone steal my license light assemblies?

So i got back to the car tonight and find this. Presume they didn't fall out. Is this a thing? Is there a black market for them? Did they fall out?
Someone got some to sell.

I got pulled over here in California because the dealership/DMV messed up on my license plate and transposed a number. The cops thought the car and/or license plates were stolen. They explained to me that criminals will often steal license plates to put on other cars to commit crimes with.

That is just strange.
People do steal some weird stuff tho. A while back I had a ‘WRX’ badge stolen of the boot… someone literally shimmied it off with a screwdriver, scratches down to the bare metal…. Seriously??
I hope no damage has been done to your car.

From memory cars can still be rebirthed in Victoria. No longer legal in NSW and QLD for exactly this sort of thing.

Some penis wrinkle driving an old beater GTI probably stole them because they're LED and he's got some crummy yellow incandescents. Well, HAD some crummy ones.

Man. That's terrible. I see you're in melbourne, can I ask where you had your car parked when this happened?

Doncaster BMW - same place I got my OG M2 from and now the M2 Comp.
Must remember to park mine inside the garage overnight, can't believe some would do that.

The same LED part 63267193293 has been used on virtually every BMW since 2007, the scum could have stolen these out of any F30, F10, F25, F15 etc.
Likely ended up in an early E9x.
Sucks that it happened, but you can only really buy new ones, install, and move on.
