Hey, apologies for reviving this thread but I am experiencing a non linear pedal feel on the brakes on street use (not even track use). Sometimes its right..sometimes the pedal decides to move a bit lower without any apparent reason.

I would also like some information from daap1193 but as this is my first post I guess I will have to send 9 more to be able and send a pm.

does anyone else experience this on the street on their M2 Comp? I have the 2NH 400/380 steel factory kit with ferrodo ds2500 pads.

I have never experienced any street driving conditions where I might appreciate the coding changes daap1193 made, but I certainly notice a difference when pushing the car on track. Point is, I'm not sure you'll notice an appreciable difference driving in the street.

Different situation, but I noticed on the street that there was less brake decel drag after the coding on my OG M2 with AP BBK.

And I’ll echo what everyone else has said regarding the track, much less ABS intervention and no emergency pedal pressure build up that creates inconsistent brake feel.

Overall, love the coding.

Do it, you won't regret it. I also felt that when street/highway driving the stock 2NH brakes were non linear and a bit "grippy". On the track it was much worse. David's coding (daap1193) solved that 100%. He'll also toss in whatever diff and steering coding you may want to try.

daap1193 just coded my M2c brakes, GTS MDM steering and diff. He also cleared an alert that I caused during a seat install.

I will also say that the customer service he provides is beyond reproach.

Wanted to jump in to express my extreme happiness with this coding. Absolutely noticeable in regular traffic/street driving. It fixed a couple nagging things that I'd attributed to something else. A really big surprise was the GTS steering. I had forgotten about the steering because I was so focused on the brakes. I suddenly noticed how much more feedback I was getting from the steering will. BMW must dampen the steering and focus mainly on directness of inputs. Steering seems to respond more to tire movement now. I could see instances of highway driving where maybe this wouldn't be as positive of a feature, but I really like having feedback in the steering wheel. Brake pedal now feels consistent. I was surprised how noticeable it was right away. My muscle memory had adapted to barely pressing on the brake and expecting a rapid decel.

Just had the coding done from daap1193 as already stated, very responsive, informative, and quick.

Looking forward to testing it out tomorrow at Buttonwillow and Saturday at Willow Springs.

Just be aware you'll have to adjust your braking points since the car isn't over boosting the brake application on initial pedal input. If you're not expecting less braking than before you can potentially get into trouble.

Yup, I made the coding changes a while back when they were first discussed in a previous thread.

Since the braking force is less per initial pedal application after the coding it means you have to get really hard and deep on the pedal to have the same braking force as before the coding.

I always tell people I do this coding for to expect less braking force so they don't accidentally put themselves into a wall or go off track trying to use their old braking point/pedal stroke. Many of them have told me laters "It's a good thing you mentioned that to me ahead of time!" since they need to learn a new brake stroke and pedal application.

Went to BW on Friday, it was my first time there...so no comparison, but certainly felt the braking change.

Saturday, was at Willow Springs...it is a track I have spent a lot of time at recently; so had a good comparison.

That said, I "really like" the brake coding...it is direct, does require a bit more force, however, this is what allows you to modulate the brakes better, especially when trail braking into a corner. I certainly felt more confident/in control going into corners...

daap1193 was great to deal with...very responsive, and engaging.

Highly recommend both the coding and daap1193

Great question. My guess is that it applies to most modern BMWs as it would fall under advanced safety features.

Got this done - will test out at the track this weekend. Street impressions are that I like it - actuation and threshold are in the same place but no crazy initial bite. Same stroke every time in my street driving so far.
