Anyone Know this M2 in Laurenceville GA?
I’m looking for an m2 and came across this car. Pics below. It came from Jacksonville/daytona, it had a new trans installed at 10k miles by Fields BMW in Daytona, it’s at a dodge dealer, so they have no background. I’m headed to my bmw dealer on Monday to learn what I can about it. I’m Ohio. The car has a dinan badge,. But no visible mods. It’s got a set of very large bmw m763 wheels. Carbon fiber ducktail style spoiler on the rear. It’s hocenheim silver.

to me it looks lowered as well
no idea on it looking at carfax, might want to try the a Florida sub forum as well. Could have already don't that. Looks like it started its life out at the villages, usually it's the other way around. It's a retirement community.

Thanks. I’m familiar with the area, my grandparents lived near there for 20 years. I’ll post in the southeast sub. I thought it looked lowered too, but didn’t know if that was just the effect of the larger tires and wheels.
I’m mostly concerned on the trans replacement. This to me seems a bit unusual. Unless I’m wrong and this was typical in the early model update. Anyone else share those same concerns? Was planning to do what due diligence I could, then call my dealer, and find an Indy in the area for PPI if everything still looks good. I saw Eurofed and Bimmers Service in the area. Any alternatives you’d recommend? Or move on all together? I’m not in a rush. I don’t drive my cars in the winter so it’s just gonna sit in the barn anyways. Id pop over and look, but they are closed. Like all dealers, well most, here in GA.

I would advice checking either in person or with an inspector if what you want to know if anything else was upgraded or swapped, Sadly you can buy the DINAN badge, but for example i recently got a 2020 for rebuilt with DINAN badge
After inspecting there were actually changes on the car, it got tons of DINAN parts on it. Exhaust, Coil overs, End links, sway bar (anti roll bar), Dinan Exchanger "which needed replacement tho" im yet to check if the previous owner also got the dinan Stage 1 on it as I need a new battery, and of course sadly no dinan CF intake tho. What im trying to say is, check because it would be kinda depressing to have a dinan badge just for the 10+ HP without even actually having dinan parts. From the looks on the picture you posted, it seems the previous owner of this M2, only did cosmetic replacements. Like Side Mark delete swap to match color paint on fenders and rear bumper, slap a CF spoiler and mirror caps, and a set of wheels, and call it a day.

that car definitely has either different springs or coil overs.
What could have happened too is that there was a bunch of dinan stuff in it that PO sold before trading car in so he left the stuff that would be more annoying to remove like suspension and whatever cosmetic mods. I would check for tune because maybe will have that. |

Thanks guys. Appreciate the advice. Definitely gonna have it inspected or have someone impartial have a look. Appreciate the offer Bruce. Did these have trans issues?

if there is a tune the highest number you'd see on the HP side would be somewhere around 480 iirc |

the trans swap seems weird to me. But a buddy with a GT500 had his swapped out during warrantee. So I don't think its normal, but if BMW did it, should be fine.
Definitely not a performance center vehicle, from car fax. Lots of them show up here in ATL with low miles, but hard miles. They show up as corp cars. Almost bought one, but the carbon ceramic brakes were gone.

Not always, the one I was looking at had to be there. They were due for replacement at 7K miles, or let's say 10K. I didn't buy for that reason, if they had replaced them, then I would of been all good.

Interestingly, my wife’s f30 335 had its engine rebuilt in 2018 by fields bmw just before we bought it. Didn’t know it at the time. Previous owner per bmw warranty service had many problems with leaky fuel injectors and supposedly led to fatal engine bearing damage. Owner brought it to fields. 1-2 months later when they were done. He drove it next door and bought a Lincoln It had 24k, now has 84k and it’s been fantastic. Wife loves it. |

The fact that this car has a Dinan sticker, dropped, other mods and a transmission replacement make me wonder if the car has been abused. I'd go over it with a fine tooth comb.

I agree that you definitely should do a PPI but there is no reason to assume abuse based on it being dropped and having a few cosmetic mods. Like what is abuse? track work? giving it some beans? thats what the car was made for and I hope everyone that owns one of these has been doing just that
