I have a question - don't the 265's have a different tread pattern than the 255's?
255's being engineered for front, and 265's being engineered for rear?

Well?
Frell. Since today was "supposedly" the release date of the Michelin MP4S's in 285/30/19-- here's what I did today. 1. I called Tire Rack. They have NO information on it being released. If it is released, they said don't expect it for several months at least. 2. Then, I called Michelin directly (866-866-6605) and talked to "Natasha". She did some digging and said that they were being released in the US today. I asked where I could find them since Tire Rack was out of the picture at the moment, and she recommended talking to Discount tire. She said the tire product number was 14185 for the PS4S 285/30/19. She also said they were in production already and there were "a few available" in the US. And yes, I asked her if this was an April Fools day thing-- she swore it wasn't. As a reminder, I'd called Michelin about 4-6 weeks ago and got the same information. 3. I went to Discount Tire. It was a slow day, so the store manager did some digging for me. They do not show up in their computer at all, so he called Michelin through his dealer line. The end result? Michelin told him that there none in production with no plans to bring them to the US. So..... um..... WTF, over? I've gone as far as I can on this, and I've got two completely different answers. The Michelin Consumer Line says they're available, in production and for sale. The Michelin Dealer's Line says they AREN'T available, AREN'T in production and NOT for sale in the US. If anyone can carry this farther to get a solid answer, I'd appreciate it. My EC-7's are still in China and won't be here until Mid-May at the earliest. R. |

The tires do show up now on the U.S. Michelin website which is good. I figure it will take a few days, to weeks to have the vendors update that they are available to order. Michelin has a $120 rebate program that includes these tires that expires on 04/05. I talked to their rewards center people and explained the issue and they told me to start that rebate process now, and they would most likely "grandfather" the rebate knowing they can't be ordered yet. Im hopeful they can be ordered in the next week or two. Oh, and Michelin did say there are no tires yet here in the U.S.

More lateral grip is better when coming out of a corner My 295 AD08R has more longitudinal grip than the 285 S007A...size does matter even on the straight Last edited by Karmic Man; 04-01-2021 at 08:34 PM.. |

Matching side height with the 265/30/19 front. It's proportionally equivalent to stock tire sizes.

295 after 30% wear is at a 285 ride height, a 285 after 30% wear is at a 275 height These ‘proportionally correct’ parameters are not static and will never be. Many F platform M3/M4 guys are on the 265/295 setup and loving it I am definitely loving the 295 more than the 285. More straight line traction and can power out of corners at the sane speed with less oversteer = faster |

I found the 275/295 setup to be more aggressive and def faster than the 265/285 The herculean front end grip from the 275 front is borderline ridiculous |

OK, this is getting a bit weird.
This guy ordered the Edelweiss LT5's shod with the 265/30 and 285/30 tires (he's in the UK, and the 285/30 wasn't available, so he ordered it from Germany), and the fitment looks a bit, well, weird. He ordered 19 x 9 & 19 x 10, which makes the front 265 sidewall almost flat (as it should be on a 9" wheel), but the rear 285 sidewall looks a bit stretched...on 10". That seems very weird to me. 285 should have a flat sidewall on 10". He's taking more pix tomorrow, so hopefully I can figure out what's going on. It might be that the 285/30 has an incredibly large bead that the 265/30 doesn't have. At any rate, I'm looking forward to solving this mystery. And on a side note, I think the LT5 looks fantastic on the M2. Last edited by ///MPhatic; 04-02-2021 at 06:04 PM.. |
