I recommend getting a stud kit. The studs are more durable than the stock lugs. Plus, since they're longer, the wheels are easier to change. It also looks cool.

There's another group buy listed that offers that.

I'm in. Ive got PowerStop Z23 pads, and the vibration damping 'ears' on those are larger than stock.. Which ET face shape, ie the ET31 or the ET35 would allow me the best chance to avoid those ears rubbing on the inside surface?

Perfect timing ! I was having difficulty finding a good set mixing looks, performance, fit, and winter for the M2. Thanks for making it easy ! I just wish these would ship before 11/10... Wisconsin here

Yea, they were real helpful. They said they didnt think my Powerstop pads would be a problem, but I just finished messaging a forum member here who had an issue with the front pads rubbing on a Tire Rack 18x8 wheel.. Does that mean all 18" wheels will rub? Doesnt shape and ET and width size have something to do with it also? Here is the pad comparo in attached pic.. Top pads are the OE Brembos; bottom pads are the ones I have.

I wouldn't risk it given your winter nor'easter history. You'll be kicking yourself the one time you get stuck because you opted for better performance in light snow driving. Go with the X Ice.

Im in Ct and have only used Performance winter tires for the last decade. I dont have to go through deep snow though.. If you really need to drive on 4"+ unplowed snow conditions, Id forego those and go with the more purpose built dedicated snows.

I agree with others about winter performance tires. They don’t have enough traction on slippery snow surface. Getting out of snowed in parking spaces would also present a challenge. Unless you have a backup winter car, I would go with full winter tires

You may go a month or so without significant snowfall in the northeast and so most of your driving is going to favor the performance winter. I'd rather not trade the wet and dry performance that is more important most of the time. |
