One more victim of the plastic charge pipe

I had been having a hissing noise all day on the track at Laguna Seca a few weeks ago, then suddenly heard a loud pop, and lost all boost in my third session.

Damn plastic charge pipes. Upgrading them for track duty is indeed highly recommended.

Even daily driving. Mine broke with stock tune, on my way picking up my son LOL. 2018 OG manual too. I blame on California heat

Track driving with stock, didn't know people did/risked that!

It's shameful of BMW really. Recall worthy?

I've done a few track days without the upgrade, but it's becoming apparent that I need to do the CP and IC upgrades.

Recall for another plastic one? Hell no, . I didn't even bother driving to the dealer. Bought the FTP charge pipe set after doing some research on forum, I really don't wanna risk to blow it again on the way to my kids school.

Were you able to limo home or is feasible to limp home? Or is a tow required when this happens?

Good to know. Plus side, if I blow my CP at the track next week then I can justify my CP and IC upgrades to the wife.

yeah I just drove home. You lose all the boost, but you can still drive at highway speeds at low RPMs. I made sure the broken charge pipe was secure/tight enough so dirt and crap didn’t get into the engine through then broken plastic.
